Sandwiches, cake and cocktails. That's all.

Gird your loins: a new Devil Wears Prada-inspired dining experience is launching in the capital this month. The Coral Room at The Bloomsbury Hotel has created a special afternoon tea in honour of the hotly anticipated West End adaptation of the 2006 film, which arrives at the Dominion Theatre this autumn.

The Coral Room To Launch Runway Afternoon Tea

Available from 30 September 2024, the Devil Wears Prada afternoon tea (titled the Runway Afternoon Tea) will feature an array of suitably stylish sweet and savoury treats that even Miranda Priestly would approve of.

Begin with an ode to Nate’s grilled cheese, followed by some truffled egg mayonnaise on pain de mie, roast turkey and cranberry onion bread sandwiches, and smoked salmon rillette sub rolls. No afternoon tea would be complete without some scones; here they’re made with buttermilk and sultana, and served with Cornish clotted cream and homemade mulled pear jam.

The experience also includes an expertly crafted selection of patisserie, inspired by the film. ‘It’s Not Just Blue, It’s Cerulean’, for instance, is a Greek yoghurt mousse with blueberry, while a New York cheesecake is named ‘A Single Cube of Cheese’ – a nod to Emily’s Fashion Week diet. There’s also a ‘Gird Your Loins’ chocolate cake, and a hazelnut opera cake named ‘No Foam Skimmed Latte with an Extra Shot’ in ode to Miranda’s signature order.

All this can be enjoyed alongside equally fun cocktails. The Runway Royale, for instance, is a mix of tequila reposado, vanilla liqueur and champagne, while The Miranda Club is made with vodka, hedgerow berry, rose shrub and extra dry vermouth. Alternatively, you can keep it simple with a glass of Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve Champagne.

With its glitzy art deco bar, glass chandeliers and vibrant furnishings, The Coral Room is the perfect spot to enjoy this fashionable afternoon tea.

The Devil Wears Prada Musical is premiering in October, starring Vanessa Williams (Ugly Betty) as Miranda, with an original score from none other than Elton John.
