La Liste 2024: Which London Bakeries Were Named?

On the hunt for the world’s most elite croissants? Refer to La Liste, which has just dropped its 2024 Pastry Awards. This saw 25 patisseries and bakeries crowned winners across 10 categories, from Pastry Opening of the Year to Discovery Gem. So who made the cut this year?

La Liste 2024 Pastry Awards Announced

While no London spots took home gold trophies this year, many were named in the long list, including esteemed hotel bakeries and neighbourhood favourites. That includes cult favourite The Dusty Knuckle Bakery in Hackney; The Lily Vanilli Bakery, renowned for its beautifully designed cakes; Pimlico’s Little Bread Pedlar; and the beloved Pophams, which has outposts in Islington and Victoria Park.

The bakeries at top hotels like The Ritz, The Berkeley, The Connaught, Claridge’s, The Savoy and Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park – all of which offer exceptional afternoon teas – also got mentions.

Outside of London, buzzy Edinburgh spot Lannan Bakery, scooped up the Pastry Opening of the Year award. Located in Stockbridge, the bakery is renowned for its picture-perfect, laminated pastries, including the TikTok-famous croissants and iced buns.

‘Having been open from less than a year, it’s an honour to receive the award from La Liste for best pastry opening of the year,’ said Darcie Maher. ‘My life long dream has been to own my own bakery and Lannan has surpassed anything I imagined it would be. To have the recognition cements all the relentless hard work that’s gone into every aspect of the bakery up until this point.’

Dominique Ansel, known for creating the viral cronut, took home the Pastry Game Changer Award, while Sydney baker Janice Wong won the Pastry Innovation Award.

La Liste is a gastronomic guide to the world’s best restaurants, hotels and bakeries. It is compiled using a combination of dining guides (including Michelin and Zagat), media reviews and TripAdvisor feedback.
