It's happening
In just a few days’ time, Brits will be reunited with their greatest love: the pub. Things are going to look pretty different, with less people, mandatory table service and one way systems all likely. Nevertheless, that draught pint is going to taste better than ever. Read on for our pick of the bars and pubs reopening on 4 July.
London Bars & Pubs Reopening on 4 July
The Prince
Boasting the title of London’s largest pub garden, The Prince has ample space for socially distanced drinks with friends. Hang out under the pergola with street food from the likes of Wildcard and Utter Waffle, plus drinks from the summer-inspired cocktail menu: think Pimm’s, fruity spritz’s and all the prosecco. theprincelondon.com
Pub on the Park
Locals will no doubt be excited by the news of this pub reopening. The ever-popular East London spot has been reeling in the (socially distanced) crowds since it started serving takeaway drinks a few weeks ago – but from this weekend, you’ll actually be able to sit in the pub garden. Situated on the edge of London Fields, it’s the perfect place to reunite with friends on a summer afternoon. pubonthepark.com
Skylight
The rooftop terrace known for its panoramic views of the city skyline, Skylight is open for bookings. While its popular lawn games are out of action for now, there’s a new tropical beer terrace to enjoy, featuring lush green foliage, cushioned seating areas, cosy garden booths and a pop-up bar selling pints of ice cold lager. Vinegar Yard
Al fresco drinking and dining destination Vinegar Yard is welcoming guests again from this weekend, with food traders set to start offering food in a couple of weeks. You can now book tables with drinks packages, and there are two new mezzanine cocktail bars to explore. vinegaryardlondon.com
The Canonbury Tavern
The beer garden is the star of the show at historic Islington pub The Canonbury Tavern, one of the pubs where George Orwell wrote part 1984 back in the 40s. thecanonbury.co.uk
Magic Garden Battersea
This Battersea pub does boho chic at its finest. The Magic Garden boasts live music and DJs from all genres, where creative south-west Londoners flock on summer weekends. With its laidback Glasto vibes, the so-called ‘festival in a pub’ is the kind of place you’ll struggle to leave. magicgardenpub.com
Neverland
West London’s answer to Ibiza is back, bigger and better than ever. A large stretch of land tucked away by the Thames, Fulham Beach is filled with beach huts, day beds and cabanas, alongside street food outlets, tropical cocktails, games and more. neverlandlondon.com
Duke of Edinburgh, Brixton
The Duke of Edinburgh’s beer garden is legendary – and it’s one of the biggest in south London. With a large bar, BBQ pit and extensive seating, it’s made for a slow (and boozy) Sunday with friends in the warmer months. dukeofedinburghpub.com
Pergola Paddington
Huge outdoor drinking mecca Pergola Paddington reopens its doors this weekend, with two bars and four food traders open for business, including Babek Brothers and Temaki Bros. pergolalondon.com
Discount Suit Company – opening 6 July
Located in a former tailor’s workshop, Discount Suit Company is hidden down an unassuming staircase on Petticoat Lane. With red leather armchairs, candles and low tables, it nails the speakeasy vibe, with a suitably wacky cocktail menu to match. From 6 July, you’ll be able to book the bar out privately for parties of two to 30 people. discountsuitcompany.co.uk
Coppa Club
Coppa Club’s Instagram-famous riverside igloos are back – but you’d better act fast, as bookings for these are snapped up quickly in normal times, so they’re likely to sell out even faster in the current climate. There’s a new a la carte menu to enjoy, plus some exciting extras – think melting desserts and quirky cocktails. Bookings available from 1 July. coppaclub.co.uk
Lost in Brixton
Jungle-inspired rooftop hangout Lost in Brixton returns this weekend with live music, summer cocktails and fresh beers from Brixton Brewery. lostinbrixton.com
