Sloane Street has launched new Private Shopping Appointments, offering everything you need to hone your style in the most glamorous of surroundings. Start at The LaLee – The Cadogan, a Belmond Hotel’s chic all-day restaurant – where your stylist will await your arrival, ready to review your style requirements. Choose between a two-hour, half day and full day appointment – with a delicious light lunch included in the latter – and use the time to draw on your stylist’s professional fashion expertise.

Whether you are seeking advice for a specific event or to revamp your style day-to-day, Sloane Street’s team of stylists have an innate skill for bringing out their clients’ confidence and personality through specially curated looks and selected pieces. What To Expect From The New Sloane Street

With roots tracing back to the 1700s, Sloane Street has always been a prestigious address, from elegant Georgian abodes – home to the likes of Jane Austen’s brother in the early 19th century – to the plethora of drapers, tailors, hosiers and milliners serving fashionable local residents in Victorian and Edwardian eras. Today, Sloane Street is home to the crème de la crème of luxury retail, restaurants and hotels, from Cartier to Gucci, Harrods to Harvey Nichols, and Beaverbrook Town House to the new One Sloane hotel. The latter will blend English charm with Parisian chic, born out of a partnership between Cadogan, Jean-Louis Costes and Francois Graff, with 30 rooms and suites tucked inside one of Chelsea’s iconic 19th century brick mansions.

And now this elegant street is receiving a two-year-long facelift, courtesy of Cadogan in partnership with the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea. Focussing on timelessness, it’s Sloane Street’s most significant streetscape improvement since the 18th century. But the team behind it also hope to create a place people can connect to. From the height of the trees and the colour of the flowers to the breadth of the streets, no facet is too small to be painstakingly considered. Here’s what visitors can expect to find over the next two years…

New Restaurants

You won’t be short of stylish places to eat and drink in the area. Amid shopping, why not grab a tasty lunch at the brand new Lorian Deli with its fresh light bites. For dinner, just off Sloane Street sits the new Cantinetta Antinori, the first UK venture from the Antinori family serving Tuscan-inspired fare within a grand period building on Harriet Street. Another beautiful new restaurant called Azzurra with an Italian and seafood concept will open this autumn.

Lorian is a brand new all-day deli serving a fresh, seasonal and invigorating menu.

Glamorous Shopping

Exciting new stores are popping up alongside Sloane Street stalwarts. Last year, Emilia Wickstead opened a new flagship, spanning two floors and featuring beautiful interiors to mimic the style of an Italian palazzo. Candle connoisseur Diptyque also launched its new flagship store on Sloane Street in November 2022, with a suitably chic Parisian design. Plus, there’s a new branch from Italian menswear brand Kiton now open, along with a brand new 9,000 sq ft Dior boutique to enjoy. Still to come are a spectacular townhouse from Valentino, due to open in 2024, alongside a glittering new opening from luxury diamond retailer Jessica McCormack.

Cultural Experiences

Sloane Street has always been a hub for culture, with plenty to offer across the worlds of music, art and culture, including the world-class Saatchi Gallery just a stroll away. Throughout the year, the historic Cadogan Hall hosts an eclectic programme of concerts, talks, theatre and dance from the likes of the London Phoenix Orchestra and the acclaimed BBC Big Band. Also not to be missed is the annual showstopping Christmas light switch on, transforming the street into a magical, glittering wonderland – this year on 18 November.

An Elegant Pedestrian Experience

The Sloane Street pavements will be widened to prioritise pedestrians, using silver-grey granite and traditional Yorkstone of the highest quality, while traffic calming measures and new crossing points will make the street cleaner and safer. Designed to complement the neighbourhood’s distinctive architecture and inspired by the specially designed arts and crafts lights of the Holy Trinity Church at the south end of Sloane Street, new custom-designed lighting will also be implemented, accompanied by welcoming street furniture providing welcoming shelter and rest spots.

Sprucing it all up is multiple RHS Chelsea Flower Show award-winner Andy Sturgeon, who is overseeing the planting of 100 new trees alongside elegant ornamental planting. Expect to see a rich, regal palette of reds, purples and blues in the new planters. Increasing the greenery will also better absorb airborne pollutants and reduce surface water run-off into drains when it rains.

When Will The Work On Sloane Street Be Completed?

The work on Sloane Street is expected to be completed in late 2024. The transformation of Sloane Street began on the west side, with the north-bound lane closed to traffic, before switching to the east side in August 2023, when the south-bound lane closed. If you’re planning on visiting in the meantime, rest assured that all of the boutiques and stores remain open, ready for the perfect shopping trip.
