Curriculum
Breaside’s broad and balanced curriculum is designed to inspire a love of learning while preparing every child for their next stage of education. From kindergarten through to year six, pupils benefit from a combination of strong teaching in the core subjects and specialist teaching across areas including science, modern foreign languages, music, art, DT and sport. As pupils progress through the school, teaching becomes increasingly tailored towards their individual strengths and future pathways, with dedicated preparation for 11+ and independent senior school entrance examinations. Alongside academic rigour, pupils are encouraged to think independently, explore their interests and develop the confidence and skills they need for the future.
Sport & The Arts
Learning at Breaside extends well beyond the classroom. Pupils enjoy a rich programme of sport, music, drama, art and creative activities, supported by specialist teaching and a wide-ranging cocurricular programme. Children are also given opportunities to develop practical, future-ready skills through initiatives such as enterprise projects, including the Peter Jones Foundation’s Tycoon programme, where pupils work together to develop business ideas, manage budgets and bring their concepts to life. There is an emphasis on participation, creativity and teamwork, giving every child the opportunity to discover new interests, build confidence and develop skills that will support them well beyond prep school.

Staff take the time to know every child as an individual, carefully supporting their academic, social and emotional development throughout their time at the school. Breaside has an excellent record of pupils gaining places at leading independent schools
and highly selective grammar schools, including Alleyn’s, JAGS, Trinity, Whitgift, Dulwich College, Eltham College, Sevenoaks School, City of London schools, St Olave’s, Newstead Wood, The Judd School and other leading London and Kent schools. Pupils have also received academic, creative, music and sports scholarships. Families receive personalised guidance to help identify the right senior school for each child.
