Pupils from Repton School, Derbyshire, won the Highest Profit Award for their enterprise as part of the National Tenner challenge.
The young entrepreneurs came up with the idea for their enterprise BHO joggers as part of the National Tenner Challenge, run by Young Enterprise and supported by BGF (Business Growth Fund). The young women were given £10 and four weeks to set up a business and make as much profit as they could.
BHO Joggers sold personalised jogger bottoms to fellow pupils in the boarding houses and made a profit of over £2,000, donating 100 per cent of their profits to Foundation Derbyshire.
The National Tenner Challenge winners were announced in an awards ceremony held at The Bank of England. The awards saw students tour the Bank of England Museum, hear from young entrepreneur and investor Ben Towers and Chief Cashier at the Bank of England Victoria Cleland, and receive their trophies from a judging panel comprising Business Growth Fund (BGF) and law firm Mishcon de Reya.
The nationwide competition was created to find the next generation of budding entrepreneurs and gives pupils aged 11 to 19 the opportunity to develop key employability skills. It also helps to develop a better understanding of the connection between what they learn in school and how they can apply that learning in the world of work.
