An Unforgettable Evening At Solihull

On Monday 21 November, the Solihull School community was privileged to welcome Eva Schloss MBE back to the Senior School Warwick Road campus at the beginning of a national tour of And Then They Came For Me: Remembering the World of Anne Frank.

The sell-out event, which took place in the Bushell Hall, saw a powerful performance of And Then They Came For Me, a unique theatrical experience and first person testimony of the inspirational Auschwitz survivor, Eva Schloss. The highly acclaimed multimedia play combines videotaped interviews with Eva and Ed Silverberg, who also survived the Holocaust, with live actors recreating scenes of their lives during World War II. The performance was followed by an open Q&A session.

Eva was joined on the evening by fellow Holocaust survivor, Mindu Hornick MBE and Kindertransportee, Lia Lesser.

Mr Penney, Head of the Prep School, said: “We have a long-standing commitment to Holocaust Education and on Eva’s last visit to our school in 2019, we were proud to unveil of a bench commemorating her beloved brother Heinz. Eva continues, at the age of 93, to be one of the world’s greatest humanitarians.

‘We are looking forward to hosting further large-scale Holocaust Education events in the future and the planning is already underway. On this occasion, we are delighted to have partnered with a wonderful charity, Safe Passage in hosting this event. Safe Passage works to provide unaccompanied child refugees in Europe with safe and legal routes to sanctuary.’
