Think British treats with French flair

In the mood for afternoon tea? There’s no shortage of worthy contenders across the capital – but French afternoon tea is somewhat more of a rarity. If the idea has piqued your interest, you can check out the brand new afternoon tea menu at L’Escargot, a historic French restaurant in Soho.

L’Escargot, London’s Oldest French Restaurant, Has Launched A Brand New Afternoon Tea Menu

With its illustrious past, elegant interiors and superb French dishes, L’Escargot is a real Soho gem. Throughout its almost 100-year history, it has been frequented by the likes of Coco Chanel, Frank Sinatra and Elton John, not to mention beloved royals including Princess Diana and Princess Margaret.

Swing by L’Escargot and you can indulge in traditional French dishes like lobster bisque, foie gras terrine, and, of course, snails – but if you fancy something slightly different, there’s now a brand new afternoon tea menu on offer. Expect classic British bites with a Parisian twist.

The menu begins with finger sandwiches boasting fillings such as Scottish smoked salmon, Burford Brown egg mayonnaise, cucumber with cream cheese and chives, and Wiltshire ham with Dijon mustard. This is followed, naturally, by home-baked raisin scones served with clotted cream and English jam. For a real French finish, however, you can sample an array of cakes including raspberry & almond frangipane, chocolate éclairs, and charming snail-shaped meringues.

These delightful dishes will be accompanied by a selection of teas from Parisian teahouse Mariage Frères – sample anything from Earl Grey Imperial and English Breakfast Tea to Vert Provence and à L’Opéra green teas. You can also treat yourself to a glass of Champagne Henriot and Crémant de Loire. What’s not to love?

Afternoon tea at L’Escargot is priced at £48pp. lescargot.co.uk
