Everything you need to know about these brand new homes
Sustainable placemaking isn’t an easy task – but it’s at the forefront of every development from Thakeham, a leading residential developer with properties in Surrey and Sussex. The group’s newest launch is Berry Croft, a collection of gorgeous eco homes in East Newick, and we’ve got all the details.
Sussex Eco Homes: The Newest Project From Thakeham, A Carbon Neutral Developer
On the lookout for an eco home? From EPC ratings to EV chargers, there’s a lot to think about – but it’s all (quite literally) under one roof at Berry Croft, the brand new offering from eco-conscious developer Thakeham.
Occupying an enviable position at the edge of the picturesque village of Newick, Berry Croft comprises two-, three- and four-bedroom houses, all finished in a classic Sussex architectural style. As well as sleek contemporary interiors and leafy outdoor space, each home boasts an array of sustainable features including low-energy lighting, high-quality insulation and all-important EV charging points. Every residence is also set to achieve an impressive EPC B rating – which is awarded to only 11% of UK properties.
This environmental focus is evident across Thakeham’s developments. Woodgate – a flagship joint venture in West Sussex from Thakeham and Abri – offers waterfront homes and contemporary villas nestled amongst a new wildflower meadow maze, with a 370-acre forest bordering the estate. Meanwhile, the carbon emissions of residences at Manorwood in Surrey are projected to be only 1.5 tonnes per year – around half the UK average. (This development also boasts 16 acres of green space and is set to open a multi-purpose sports hall plus two outdoor Padel courts. Who said sustainability can’t be fun?)
Thakeham holds an impressive Planet Mark sustainability certification, and it recently reached carbon neutral status two years ahead of its original target, having initially planned to become a carbon neutral business by 2025. Sustainability might still be a challenge in the property world (and beyond), but this certainly feels like a step in the right direction.
