Which of the capital's eateries made the list?
Home to some of the world’s most prestigious chefs and restaurants, London is renowned for its foodie scene. The city is no stranger to awards: 73 eateries were awarded Michelin stars in the 2023 guide, and it always puts on a strong showing in The World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Our latest win? A total of 27 London restaurants have been named in Parisian guide La Liste, a compilation of top food spots all over the globe, based on publications, guidebooks and online reviews.
La Liste 2024: Which London Restaurants Made The Cut?
The 2024 edition has just been announced, with three categories for restaurants:
- Top 1,000 restaurants in the world
- Outstanding restaurants and bistro
- Food gems, from uprising to authentic
The top ranking London restaurant was Core by Clare Smyth, the acclaimed Notting Hill restaurant with a whopping three Michelin stars. It focuses on showcasing British produce through elegant tasting menus, helmed by the eponymous founder, who grew up in Northern Ireland before training in some of the world’s most acclaimed kitchens, including a long stint under Gordon Ramsay. She launched her own west London restaurant in 2017, and it quickly became known as one of the capital’s most impressive dining spots.
This was followed by another top female-led fine dining eatery, Hélène Darroze at The Connaught, also a three-Michelin-star restaurant centred around the best ingredients. Other names to feature on the list are The Lecture Room and Library at Mayfair dining emporium sketch, Santiago Lastra’s Mexican restaurant Kol, Tom Sellers’ Story, and top-end omakase restaurant Sushi Kanesaka, located within 45 Park Lane hotel.
So which restaurant struck gold? Well, six eateries came in joint first place, including Simon Rogan’s L’Enclume in the Lake District – marking the first time a UK chef has achieved this accolade.
