There's a big sale on theatre tickets this month
There’s been lots of talk about the rising theatre prices lately, which is in part a result of the influx of Hollywood stars in the West End. Some of the actors themselves have spoken out on the issue: Ralph Fiennes has spoken about the ‘worryingly high’ ticket prices, while Andrew Scott has described the issue as ‘frustrating’. Yet there are initiatives out there to try and make theatre more affordable – one being London Theatre Week.
What Is London Theatre Week?
Returning from 19 February – 3 March 2024, London Theatre Week offers the chance to get tickets for over 50 shows for discounted prices. An array of big and small plays are taking part, with ticket prices starting at £15, £25 and £35.
Run by ticketing company Encore, the initiative includes cheaper tickets for huge shows like Wicked, Les Miserables, Frozen, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, The Book of Mormon, Sister Act, The Lion King and Stranger Things. Exciting new shows like Mean Girls and Hello, Dolly! are also taking part.
Michael Harrison, Producer of Hello, Dolly! said: ‘It has been so great to see London Theatre Week grow over the years and successfully generate a broader cultural moment – for both theatregoers and producers alike – that drives excitement around London’s remarkable and vibrant West End.’
London Theatre Week runs twice a year, with a second edition planned for later in 2024.
You can also get discounted tickets for:
- Back to the Future: The Musical
- Matilda The Musical
- Shrek The Musical
- Priscilla The Party!
- Cruel Intentions
- Everybody’s Talking About Jamie
- A Mirror
- Guys & Dolls
