Tacos, tequila cocktails and city views await
Every year, the capital ups its game when it comes to summer rooftops. Top of our list for 2024? The Berkeley’s stylish terrace, which has its own pool overlooking the city.
The Berkeley’s Rooftop Bar Is Back
The hotel’s rooftop is usually reserved for guests, but this summer it has opened up reservations to the public. With its outdoor swimming pool (a rarity in the city centre), sweeping views over Hyde Park and signature striped sun loungers, the space is renowned for its ultra-Instagrammable look. But this year, there’s another reason to go: a Mexican-inspired menu of PATRÓN tequila cocktails and tacos.
Visitors can enjoy drinks like the PATRÓN Tequila Colada, a twist on the classic cocktail which replaces rum for PATRÓN Reposado, mixed with mango lassi, coconut cream and water. There’s also the Ultimate Knutarita, a margarita-style drink made with shiso umeshu, Cointreau, lime and spice.
On the food side, you can enjoy an array of tacos – highlights will include smoked salt marsh lamb shoulder, barbecue jackfruit, and crispy Dover sole with charred sweetcorn. Plus, on Taco Tuesdays, watch out for secret off-menu options. Guests can also make their own guacamole, adding toppings like spring onion, chilli, garlic, roasted seeds and lime to a base of fresh smashed avocado. And for a sweet treat, The Berkeley will offer ice cream from a soft serve machine, with a selection of rotating flavours throughout the season.
All this can be enjoyed from a table or one of the loungers, while soaking up the views of Knightsbridge, Belgravia and Hyde Park.
Part of the Maybourne Hotel Group – which also owns Claridge’s and The Connaught – The Berkeley is one of London’s most glamorous hotels. Alongside the standout rooftop, it’s home to a bakery from esteemed pastry chef Cédric Grolet, alongside a Bamford wellness spa.
The Berkeley Rooftop Bar is open Tuesday – Saturday, 7.30 – 11pm, with the last sitting at 9.30pm.
