The buzzy event is back for a second edition
What will our food scene look like in the next 10, 20 or 30 years? That’s the question at the heart of The Future of Food Festival, a forward-thinking event which delves into topics of the environment and innovation in relation to the culinary world. The festival launched in 2023 with a week of talks, pop-ups, tastings and more, and now it’s back for a second edition – this time running for a month throughout September. So what can guests expect?
Future of Food Festival 2024: What To See (And Eat)
Taking place in the heart of London’s West End and running in collaboration with food waste charity The Felix Project, the Future of Food Festival 2024 will include a programme of dining experiences, panel discussions, special menus and more. An impressive area of the capital’s top chefs and restaurants are getting involved, with events centred around the Regent Street and St James’s areas.
This year’s line-up includes names like Alex Dilling of Hotel Café Royal, Angela Hartnett OBE of Café Murano St James, Northcote’s Lisa Goodwin-Allen and many more. Sure to be a highlight is the Future of Food Trends talk on 16 September at The Crown Estate, which will see Bompas & Parr presenting their 2025 trends report.
BAFTA’s London HQ will also be showing a screening of award-winning film Six Inches of Soil, a story of British farmers standing up against the industrial food system. Afterwards, visitors will have a chance to meet the filmmakers and farmers involved in the documentary.
A panel of experts including Sitopia author Carolyn Steel and Nick Kerle, head of food at The Felix Project, will be having an enlightening discussion about the future of food, hosted by Sheila Dillon (BBC The Food Programme).
Elsewhere, restaurants will be hosting dining experiences including a four-hands dinner at Hotel Café Royal featuring Alex Dilling and Mikael Svensson, and a four-course tasting menu at Bentley’s Oyster Bar & Grill. Plus, look out for discounts at hotspots like Heddon Street Kitchen, ‘O ver and Sauce by The Langham.
The Discovery Zone will be open throughout the month, which will take visitors on a journey of discovery via taste, smell and touch. You’ll also find a donation point for The Felix Project, alongside a programme of workshops and talks for local schools.
