Taylor Sheridan and John Linson’s Yellowstone universe is wildly popular. And – even though there won’t be a Yellowstone season 6 – we see no sign of the franchise slowing down. Now 1923 is officially back on our screens for season 2, it’s time to take another look at The Madison: the next Yellowstone sequel in the works. Here’s everything we know so far.

What Is The Madison About?

Details are scant so far, but here’s what we do know: The Madison will be a heartfelt exploration of grief and human connection following a New York City family that relocates to the Madison River valley in central Montana.

Originally, it was reported The Madison would kick off after the death of the husband and brother-in-law of wealthy matriarch Stacy Clyburn, prompting the cross-country move, but it’s not clear whether this is still the plan. Likewise, Variety reports The Madison was previously in development under the title ‘2024’, though this has not been confirmed by Paramount. Picking up where Yellowstone leaves off, rumours have swirled around 2024 since early 2023, with Matthew McConaughey rumoured to star. Hopefully all of these rumours prove true so McConaughey and Pfeiffer can form a western powerhouse. Here’s everything else we know about the Yellowstone universe and all of its moving parts.

Who Will Star?

Michelle Pfeiffer will lead the series, with the news revealed last summer. ‘Michelle Pfeiffer is a remarkable talent who imbues every role with emotional depth, authenticity and grace,’ says Chris McCarthy, co-CEO of Paramount Global. ‘She is the perfect anchor to the newest chapter of the Yellowstone universe, Madison, from the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan.’

Pfeiffer will be joined by a whole host of stars. The full cast list we know so far includes:

Release Date

No news just yet on when we can expect to see Madison on our screens. However, filming took place from September to December 2024, spanning Dallas and Texas, so our fingers are crossed for 2025.
