It was a starry night for the British hospitality scene

Chefs, restaurateurs and hoteliers from all over the UK gathered in London last night for the AA Hospitality Awards 2024, a highlight on the industry calendar. This saw a whole host of venues awarded new AA rosettes, as well as prestigious trophies including Restaurant of the Year across England, London, Wales and Scotland. So who won gold for 2024?

AA Hospitality Awards 2024: Full List Of Winners

Four restaurants took home Restaurant of the Year awards. In England, The Greyhound came out tops, a 17th century pub in Beaconsfield helmed by husband and wife duo Daniel Crump. The London winner was The Silver Birch, a friendly neighbourhood eatery in Chiswick centred around British ingredients. Cardiff restaurant Thomas by Tom Simmons took home the gong for Wales, while the Michelin-starred Loch Bay on the Isle of Skye was Scotland’s winner.

A number of restaurants secured new rosettes. Woven by Adam Smith in Berkshire, The Glenturret Lalique Restaurant in Perth & Kinross, and Angel at Hetton in North Yorkshire have now made it into the esteemed five rosette category, classed as places which ‘have highly individual voices, exhibit breathtaking culinary skills, and set standards to which others aspire to, yet few achieve.’

Humo restaurant

HUMO

Eateries including Restaurant 1890 by Gordon Ramsay at the Savoy, London, and Lumiere in Gloucestershire, now have four rosettes. And restaurants including Mayfair’s Humo, Musu in Greater Manchester, and The Three Horseshoes in Essex have made it into the three rosettes category.

It was a big night for Tom Aikens, who won Chefs’ Chef of the Year. Aikens has an impressive track record, securing his first Michelin star at just 26, and now runs Muse, an intimate fine dining restaurant in Belgravia, London.

Other winners included 1 Hotel Mayfair, which secured the Sustainable Award; Mingary Castle in the Scottish Highlands, named Restaurant with Rooms of the Year; and The Seafood Restaurant in Cornwall, which took home the Food Service Award.
