The top prize is a bespoke horse ring designed by Ethica Diamonds

Bidding is now underway for a charity auction in aid of horses in need. Hosted by Redwings and the University of Anglia, the sealed bid auction will offer a bundle of prizes to the top bidder – with the highlight being a bespoke horse-shaped ring designed by Cornwall-based jewellery brand Ethica Diamonds.

Ethica Diamonds Donates ÂŁ2.5k Ring To Redwings Auction

Taking place throughout October, the auction will help support the work of horse welfare charity Redwings. As mentioned, the top lot comes courtesy of Ethica Diamonds, who donated a bespoke, one-of-a-kind horse ring, cast in solid gold and set with diamonds. It has been handcrafted in Cornwall and is worth ÂŁ2,500. Brand founders Elaine and Emily Reffell also note that the ring has its own touching story, which bidders will resonate with.

Ethica Diamonds received a proposal back in 2020 from entrepreneur Susan Jamieson, who suggested they collaborate on a custom jewellery collection. The plan was to sell pieces on Susan’s platform, with a portion of profits supporting a horse charity of her choice. Her passion for horses drove many of her endeavours, including fundraising initiatives; during the pandemic’s peak, she hosted a radio show focused on horses in need.

Susan sadly passed away before the collection could be fully realized. However, one piece – a solid gold ring featuring a horse head design adorned with diamonds – was completed and has been held by Ethica Diamonds. And now, the brand has decided to honour Susan’s memory by donating the ring to Redwings, the UK’s largest horse welfare charity.

‘Susan was a true animal lover, and her passion for horses was inspiring,’ say Elaine and Emily Reffell, founders of Ethica Diamonds. ‘It only felt right that proceeds of this ring went to helping horses in need. We are delighted to collaborate with Redwings on this, to support the amazing work they do, and to honour Susan’s legacy.’
