What to expect from The Inheritance

There’s a new must-watch British drama on Netflix, and this time it comes courtesy of Channel 5. The Inheritance first aired in September 2023, centring on a recently deceased father who unexpectedly – and suspiciously? – changed his will just before he died. Here’s everything you need to know before you tune in.

Channel 5’s The Inheritance Is Now On Netflix

What Is The Inheritance About?

The Inheritance centres on three grieving siblings upon the death of their father, Dennis (Larry Lamb). Daniel (Robert James-Collier), Sian (Gaynor Faye) and Chloe (Jemima Rooper) all expected to inherit a portion of their father’s estate in equal shares – but are horrified to discover that won’t be happening. In fact, they soon discover, their father remarried in secret, and created a new will, leaving his entire estate to his new wife, Susan (Samantha Bond). So was his death truly a tragic accident after all? Or do these suspicious circumstances point to murder?

With just four hour-long episodes, it’s easy to race through The Inheritance, which might leave you with another question…

Will There Be The Inheritance Season 2?

No news from Channel 5 on whether we can expect a second season of The Inheritance, but we think it’s unlikely. No spoilers but, while we were left with some burning questions, the finale ties everything together as much as we would want – ie Dennis’ suspicious death is solved. Perhaps, like The Teacher, Channel 5 will continue the series as an anthology. Otherwise, there are plenty of recent series to enjoy from the channel, including The Wives and The Cuckoo.

Is The Inheritance Based On A True Story?
