The delivery platform's latest report demonstrates the TikTok effect
Chicken wings, whole cucumbers and caesar salads are among the most popular takeaway dishes of 2024, according to Deliveroo. The food delivery platform has released its annual 100 Report, detailing the top trending orders across its 10 markets around the world. So which orders came out tops in the UK?
What Were Britain’s Favourite Takeaways This Year?
The most ordered dish of the year was eight boneless wings from Wingstop – which was also the second most popular order in the world. Founded in Texas, the chicken shop now has outposts dotted all over the UK. In contrast, the second and third dishes on the list were caesar salads: the SP Caesar Salad from The Salad Project, followed by the Seiz’a Caesar with Blackened Chicken from atis, both in London.
The caesar salad has been another of 2024’s biggest viral dishes, with TikTokers crowning the caesar salad and fries combination as the new girl dinner.
Deliveroo’s fourth most ordered takeaway was a whole cucumber from Waitrose – no doubt thanks to its recent social media fame. The humble fruit has been in the limelight lately, thanks to a spate of recipe videos on the platform, sparked by user Logan Moffitt, creator of the now famous cucumber salad.
Pepperoni pizza from Glasgow favourite Frank’s Pizza came in fifth place, followed by jerk chicken and chips from White Men Can’t Jerk in London.
Other dishes to feature included The Poke Shack’s build-your-own poke bowl, charred harissa chicken from Farmer J, and bananas from Sainsbury’s in Birmingham. The only drink to make the top 10, meanwhile, was white wine from The Co-Op. This was particularly popular in London, alongside Perello olives and Torres truffle crisps (the capital’s residents ordered more of these two snacks than the rest of the UK put together). The residents of Royal Tunbridge Wells in Kent, meanwhile, ordered more champagne than anywhere else in the country.
For the first time in the report’s eight-year history, a sweet treat made the number one spot internationally. Deliveroo’s most ordered dish in the world this year was Dubai’s Fix Dessert Chocolatier ‘Can’t Get Knafeh Of It’ bar, another food which rose to online fame – with some people travelling hundreds of miles to try it.

Deliveroo says this year’s list demonstrates the ‘TikTok to table’ effect, with users inspired to try dishes after seeing them online. There has also been an uptick in people ordering grocery items on the platform, with a 600 percent increase since 2022.
