Transform your culinary space with these beautiful buys
Last week, police officers were called to Hampshire to help manage giant queues gathering outside a warehouse in the hopes of nabbing a bargain at a discounted Le Creuset sale. The French brand was born in the 1920s, yet it’s having a moment right now – no doubt at least partially a result of TikTok, where a new generation of fans share their snaps of rainbow-coloured casserole dishes under the hashtag #Le CreuSlay. The social media platform has given the iconic name a new lease of life as aesthetic cookware remains one of the most prominent kitchen trends of the moment.
Le Creuset isn’t the only name benefitting from the TikTok effect: kitchenware brands like Smeg and KitchenAid are experiencing a resurgence too. We’re also seeing a string of new affordable brands entering the market, such as Our Place, which has gone viral for its chic pots and pans. It all taps into the cottagecore trend: an aesthetic characterised by cosy countryside settings, rustic decor and wholesome activities such as baking bread and gardening.
We all want pretty kitchens – but, of course, it’s important that our cookware performs well too. So which products have as much substance as they do style? Give your kitchen a makeover with our pick of the prettiest kitchenware products worth investing in.
Trending Aesthetic Cookware: 9 Top Picks
Our Place
Wonder Oven, £150
Air fryers are undoubtedly convenient, but they are often bulky and unsightly. Not the Wonder Oven from Our Place, though, which has soared to fame since launching last summer. Available in four colours and boasting a vintage look, it’s the most attractive air fryer we’ve seen, plus it promises six functions in one: air frying, baking, roasting, grilling, reheating and toasting.
KitchenAid
Toaster 2 Slice, £143.20
A cream toaster is a chic addition to any kitchen. This one from KitchenAid wins on both look and function, with an almond shade, extra wide slots and seven settings to choose from, ensuring your bread is toasted to perfection.
Le Creuset
Cast Iron Heart Shaped Casserole with Heart Knob, £215
In recent years, Le Creuset has branched out from its signature volcanic orange with a number of fun new colours and shapes. Unsurprisingly, the heart collection – launched a few years ago around Valentine’s Day – has proven particularly popular. The shell pink version gets our vote, ideal for cooking stews, casseroles and soups with love.
Smeg x Dolce & Gabbana
Mediterraneo Espresso Machine, Blue/White, £1,249
Created in collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana, this Smeg coffee machine is a maximalist’s dream, featuring a Sicilian-inspired, colourful design. Granted, it’s expensive, but Smeg products are made to last, offering the chance to create authentic espresso from the comfort of your own home.
Fortnum & Mason
MacKenzie-Childs Courtly Check Kettle, £180
Fortnum & Mason has long excelled in the cottagecore sphere, and this checkered kettle is a perfect example. Part of a wider collaboration between Fortnum’s and ceramics brand Mackenzie-Childs, it features a retro look with brass accents and a classic Eau de Nil bead.
Addison Ross
Burgundy Striped Column Salt Or Pepper Mill, £60
Addison Ross sells everything from clocks to photo frames, but it’s the salt and pepper mills that have piqued the attention of TikTok. We’re lusting over the striped design, which comes in an array of colours including on-trend burgundy – a set of two will add a bit of fun to any dining table.
Emma Bridgewater
Tomatoes 34cm Enamel Roasting Tray, £42
Fruit and vegetable tableware is a big interiors trend at the moment, popping up on linen, dishware and kitchenware accessories aplenty. Emma Bridgewater is dipping its toe in the trend with this roasting tray, which is decorated in red and yellow tomatoes. Made of porcelain enamel, it’s durable and will last for years.
Staub
La Cocotte, £279
Like Le Creuset, Staub is another high-end French-born cookware brand. And, like Le Creuset, it has also expanded its collection to include more colours, such as this sage green cocotte pan. Made in cast iron, it can be used to slow cook meat, fish or veggies, with durable matte black enamel lining.
Dualit
Hand Mixer, £79.99
Copper cookware is all the rage right now, such as this hand mixer from Dualit. With four speed settings, it can be used for everything from beating eggs to kneading dough – plus it’s dishwasher safe for easy cleaning.
