Everything We Know About Tutankhamun: The Immersive Exhibition

Taking guests on a journey into ancient Egypt, Tutankhamun: The Immersive Exhibition will utilise cutting edge technology set over a vast 26,909 sq ft space to tell an ancient story. Think 8-metre high projections, holograms, interactive rooms and 360-degree virtual reality, all combining to illustrate the life, myths and mysteries surrounding history’s famed pharaoh like never before. The highlight? A breathtaking hologram showcasing the mummification process – a world premiere.

Supported by Cairo’s Grand Egyptian Museum, the exhibition has been curated in collaboration with Egyptologists and historians, and features six galleries exploring Egyptian civilisation, natural landscapes, cultural heritage and the life of Tutankhamun. A 30-minute film will delve into the discovery of the pharaoh’s tomb, accompanied by a voice recording of archaeologist who found it: Howard Carter. The experience culminates in a digital metaverse walk-through of the Valley of the Kings where the 1922 moment of discovery can be relived and Carter’s basecamp can be explored.

As well as all of these high-tech features, Tutankhamun: The Immersive Exhibition will present a treasure room filled with a selection of original ancient Egyptian artefacts from as far back as 4000 B.C –  including a funerary shabti from the 20th Dynasty, and statuettes and vases from the reigns of Tutankhamun and Ramses II & III – as well as high quality replicas and facsimiles.
