Dua Lipa Is The Face Of The New Chanel 25 Handbag

Pop darling and fashion sensation Dua Lipa possesses a breezy combination of street savvy and innate style, making her the perfect choice to front the latest Chanel 25 handbag campaign.

Fresh from her appearance on the FROW at the Chanel spring/summer haute couture show in Paris, the Physical and New Rules songstress came out singing and dancing through the streets of New York City in a video to celebrate the launch of the French maison’s new ‘It’ hobo bag.

With her infectious smile and boundless energy, the 29-year-old multiple Grammy Award winner can be seen swinging the slouchy, trapezoid-shape accessory in different colourways while singing along to the Fine Young Cannibals’ 1988 cult track She Drives Me Crazy.

Explaining her love of the song, English/Albanian Dua, who lives in London, says: ‘It’s such an anthem from the ‘90s, and I’ve always loved that era, probably because that’s when I was born. I find it’s often a time I go back to whether it’s fashion, music or film. I find it so inspiring. This song feels like the perfect match for that freedom of expression and allowed me to dive into a fun, raw, rebellious emotion. New York really lends itself to that sort of ‘stomp-your-feet’ energy.’

She’s also a big fan of the new design, which comes in three sizes and features quilting, chunky chain strap and multiple pockets. ‘I’m obsessed with this bag,’ she enthuses. ‘It’s the perfect kind of bag for me as someone who’s always on the move and likes to carry around everything, especially because it’s got these great pockets for all my favourite things. There’s a place for my books, a place for my sunglasses, maybe a notebook or two, and even a place for my crystals. It’s just the perfect everyday bag!’

On filming the music video-style campaign with Grammy-nominated director Gordon von Steiner, Dua, who this week celebrated the third anniversary of her global editorial platform Service95, adds: ‘For me, this campaign is about the freedom of movement, self-expression and embracing that on-the-go energy. It’s powerful, yet playful, and above all, joyous. It’s a similar spirit that I share as an artist, so it immediately resonated with me on many levels.’
