The Edit By Alexa Chung: Barbour’s SS25 Collection
When Barbour unveiled its brand new line, The Edit by Alexa Chung, it sent countryside chic enthusiasts into overdrive. Chung, who spent much of the campaign traipsing through an overcast London allotment, return to the brand for a surprise second season – and this time, she takes us camping.
With wellies on her feet and a bright yellow raincoat shielding her from the drizzly British summer, the model and designer steps between neon orange tents, picnic blankets and loungers with ease – swinging what looks like a matching portable stove as she goes.
This new campaign builds on its predecessor, taking inspiration from Chung’s childhood in the countryside and summers spent wading through the campsites of Glastonbury. Brought into the fold of Barbour’s creative team last year, the designer returns to her role as Creative Director and Designer for The Edit by Alexa Chung.
Speaking on the second chapter of the collaboration, Chung commented: ‘I’m in love with the latest collection I have designed for Barbour. I think the codes and language we have built together are now well established in that we create playful takes on Barbour’s heritage.’
The campaign, shot by photographer Tim Walker, draws specifically on the nostalgia of camping holidays and festival style – two themes which sit close to Chung’s lived experience. ‘I really focused on colour and fun and I think that idea carried through to our camping trip themed shoot, with the legendary Tim Walker,’ she said. ‘This collection brings me so much joy and I hope you like it as much as I do.’
Highlights from the new collection include a classic wax jacket, a selection of raincoats, a utility gilet, knitted tanks and a revival of the AW24’s gardening clog. ‘My particular favourites in the collection are the bright yellow jacket and fire engine red raincoat,’ notes Chung.
‘Alexa’s long-standing relationship with Barbour makes for an exciting and authentic collaboration every time,’ commented Paul Wilkinson, Group Commercial Director at Barbour. ‘Whether it’s Alexa wearing us throughout her childhood or of course, her iconic Glastonbury style Barbour has always been a trusted companion. This new collection is a marriage of all of that personal experience, rooted in Barbour’s classic heritage, with Alexa’s unique and eclectic timeless lens. We’re excited to be sharing this with our customers around the world.’
