All eyes might have been on the clothes this season, but London Fashion Week is also renowned for its fantastic hair and makeup – and these trends from the runway prove it.

The Top Hair Trends At London Fashion Week
1. Dramatic Spikes
First up: punk-approved spikes. With plaid, leather and chains working their way onto the runway, it was only a matter of time before hair and makeup followed the same path towards edgier styles. ‘We saw this hair trend pop up at Hector Maclean’s AW25 show,’ notes Stevie Leah, a stylist at Blue Tit Brixton. ‘The look combined classic Edwardian silhouettes with modern, punk-inspired hairstyles comprised of spikes, braids and backcombed volume. The dramatic spikes added an edgy contrast to the romantic, vintage designs, creating a rebellious twist on traditional elegance.’

2. Hair As Art
Branching out from everyday wear, designers also worked with hairstylists to bring elements of the outfit into the hair itself. This was especially true for the likes of Vin + Omi, who Stevie notes ‘featured bold, sculptural hairstyles crafted from recycled materials. These gravity-defying hairpieces complemented the avant-garde designs, reinforcing the sustainability message of the show. The trend of combining art and eco-conscious fashion is growing, and these sculptural hairstyles push the boundaries of eco-conscious design.’

3. Slicked Back Pixie
In contrast, other shows sent their models (and special guests) down the runway with more minimal, pared back styling. ‘Take Florence Pugh, who opened for Harris Reed at the start of London Fashion Week,’ says Kamila Pruszek, co-owner of Blue Tit Portobello. ‘She wore a sheer hooded gown, paired with a sleek, pulled-back hairstyle and striking spidery lashes. Here, the minimal hair kept the focus on her dramatic look – but we’re also seeing this style trend for its seamless balance of sophistication and edge.’

4. Pony-tails
Another popular hair trend at London Fashion Week, both past and present, is the ponytail. This go-to hairstyle is one designers do gravitate to, as it allows them to push back a model’s hair to better showcase the clothes their wearing. But this season, we saw the pony-tail take on a much more literal meaning. ‘We saw this trend in action at Paul Costelloe’s AW25 runway show, which drew on the sartorial traditions of dressage – think structured tweeds and jodhpur-inspired cuts,’ highlights Kamila. ‘Models wore simple, low ponytails with micro-French braids and a sculptural wrap detail at the nape (like those used when grooming horses). This directly echoed the discipline of equestrian style – clean, classic, and polished.’

5. Bejewelled Accessories
Other wearable accessories spotted on the runway included clips, hairbands and pins, notes Kamila. But they all shared one common theme: jewels and sparkle. ‘I really like how this trend was referenced at Simone Rocha’s AW25 show,’ says the stylist. ‘Models has a sleek, slightly wet look with a natural part. The standout detail was the jewelled hair clips on both sides of the head, which added another point of interest for the outfit with an elegant touch.’
