Green lattes are coming to the Chelsea favourite this spring
Matcha remains the drink of the moment, with sales soaring and snaps of the green-hued tea taking over our social feeds. And now, King’s Road institution Bluebird Chelsea is tapping into the trend with a matcha pop-up, set to take over the venue this spring.
Bluebird Chelsea Is Getting A Matcha-Inspired Makeover
Launching in collaboration with matcha brand PerfectTed, the takeover will see the restaurant transform into a green haven, complete with a new menu of drinks. From 2 April, visitors will be able to stop by the Bluebird Cafe to sip special matcha lattes, such as the Bluebird in the Clouds: a blend of blueberry, spirulina and oat cream, layered over a chilled vanilla matcha latte. The Blushing Bluebird, meanwhile, incorporates flavours of strawberries and vanilla, while the Pistachio Dream brings the trending nut into the mix, as well as chocolate cream.
Inside the restaurant, a new cocktail will be on offer: the Tommy’s Matcharita, a twist on the margarita which sees smooth silver tequila paired with earthy matcha, zesty lime juice, sweet agave syrup and mango puree. Everything will be made with PerfectTed’s 100 percent ceremonial grade, organic matcha.
That’s not all: on 4 April, matcha lovers will have the chance to win unlimited drinks from the Bluebird Chelsea x PerfectTed pop-up menu until 30 April. Just keep your eyes peeled for ‘Green Cards’, which will be hidden around the Chelsea neighbourhood for the day.
Matcha is a tea powder made from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant, originally served at tea ceremonies in Japan. It can be whisked into hot water to make tea, or with milk to create a frothy latte, and offers a plethora of health benefits: the powder is rich in antioxidants, helps relieve stress, supports gut health, and may even improve brain function.
Bluebird has remained one of Chelsea’s most beloved restaurants since 2006, serving contemporary seasonal fare amid stylish surroundings. The cafe and courtyard offers a more relaxed dining space, open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon drinks – and always particularly popular during the spring and summer months.
PerfectTed, meanwhile, is one of the UK’s best-loved matcha brands, selling powders in a range of flavours alongside pre-made matcha lattes.
The Bluebird Chelsea and PerfectTed Spring Matcha Pop-Up will run from 11am on 2nd April, to 30th April, bluebird-restaurant.co.uk
