A sneak peek of Country & Town House's new magazine on collectables
Welcome The Collector 2025, C&TH’s brand new magazine edited by watch guru James Gurney and featuring a wealth of writers and experts.
The Collector 2025: What To Expect
Inside you’ll find a fabulous cache of collectables from contemporary art and classic cars to vintage Cartier and Nick Cave’s devilish ceramics. We also unpick how collecting – and collectors – have changed. We’re younger, broader, more diverse and more digital in our interests, with an approach that chimes with a more mindful take on consumerism. As our piece by neuropsychologist and author Dr Shirley Mueller explains in her column, we’re simply born to collect. Within the pages of The Collector 2025, you’ll find plenty of inspiration…

Nick Cave has released a series of ceramics called The Devil – A Life
What’s Inside:
- Nick Cave, who learnt pottery as a teenager, talks us through his ceramic series, The Devil – a Life, inspired by his own collection of Staffordshire figurines. ‘There’s something beautiful about the process,’ he says, ‘placing them on a pedestal, one by one, before the glazing brings them to life. When they are white, they feel entirely different. The humanity is in the painting, in the colour, in their little faces. It’s a form of caretaking.’
- Olivia Cole says books are the new vinyl, inspiring a new wave of Gen Z collectors
- Simon de Burton meets Cici Muldoon, the doctor, trained dancer and classic car collector, who also travels the world as a concours judge and is a member of a classic car racing club
- James Gurney goes gem hunting and interviews three of London’s leading collector-jewellers
- Jane Anson gets to grips with the finest grower Champagnes from family-run estates that sit outside the traditional Champagne Houses
- PLUS rare whiskies, fine sporting guns, the latest news and top prices from London’s big evening sales of contemporary and modern art, AND an extraordinary work of timekeeping-cum-jewellery from Van Cleef & Arpels, launched just last week at Watches And Wonders in Geneva…and so much more
