As September looms, it’s time to get back to reality. For many, reality will mean heading back to school or university, so we at C&TH have a handy little guide to help you through the stress of getting everyone organised.
1. Tuck box
You can’t possibly send your little cherub off to school without a tuck box filled with all their favourites. Pop over to Fortnum & Mason and make sure you don’t leave without a tin of chocolossus biscuits, strawberry & Fortnum’s champagne preserve and the royal blend tea. A pack of M&S percy pigs and hot chocolate wouldn’t go amiss either…
2. Notebooks
Make sure that prep gets done by sending your children off with a smart notebook and diary from Smythson, from £33.
3. Bedding
Only silk or Egyptian cotton will do. Head to The White Company for some quality bed linen, duvet covers from £72.
4. PJs
Your pjs say a lot about you at boarding school, so dress appropriately in a Rachel Riley matching set. We rather like the navy moon & stars pyjamas (£69).
5. Bathtime
For the ultimate in bath products, Aesop is a one-stop shop. Stock up in the resurrection hand cream for when the temperatures start to play havoc with your skin, from £19.
6. New term, new trainers
At school, is there anything more embarrassing than brand new trainers? But still, your feet grow, and you inevitably grow out of your old ones. So grin and bear it with a pair of Nike Free RN Flyknit trainers, £70.
7. Trunk
Head to Globetrotter for the ultimate travelling trunk. We love the classic British racing green and tan Centenary collection suitcase. From £1,290.
8. Pencil case
Kipling pencil cases simply won’t do. Anya Hindmarch has a collection of unisex tongue & cheek pencil cases that are a perfect way to motivate anyone revising for their GCSE’s or finishing off their UCAS form. From £140.
9. Weekend bag
Be prepared for exeat weekend with a Mulberry clipper holdall. This investment will see you through school and university, so you need to go classic. From £595.
10. Tech
A teaching tool at many schools, an iPad will come in handy for Netflix evenings, making notes and facetiming. Make sure you get a case to protect it from the usual chaos of a dorm room though.
