Amanda Holden and Alan Carr’s Spanish B&B has officially hit the market

Amanda Holden and Alan Carr have come a long way since their hit series, Amanda and Alan’s Italian Job, in which they transformed two neglected Sicilian apartments into one glorious home. The second season of the show saw them tackle a three-storey Tuscan townhouse, while their most recent project consisted of a sprawling villa in Andalusia. If you followed along with the renovation project in Amanda and Alan’s Spanish Job, you’ll be excited to hear that the house has just hit the market.

Tucked away in the picture-perfect Granadan village of Moclín is a three-storey house which you just might recognise from Amanda & Alan’s Spanish Job. As the BBC series concludes, the property is officially up for sale via Granada Village & Country. (And you can even check out the listing on Rightmove).

The handsome home stands in a peaceful rural location, around 90km from Malaga and 200km away from Seville. The village of Moclín itself proudly features a 13th century Moorish castle which soars more than 1,000ft above sea level.

After Amanda and Alan’s dazzling renovation, the home now boasts three large bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a stylish kitchen, plus a separate dining room and a particularly impressive living room/bar area on the top floor. Outside, there’s a tranquil patio garden and even a roof terrace on the first floor. Plus, according to the estate agents, potential buyers will be able to create more living space on the ground floor (within a former stable block, in fact).

‘This house had been empty for 35 years, and one of the attractive aspects of working with Alan and Amanda on this project was that it would breathe new life into a property right on the village square,’ says Ian Rutter, director Granada Village & Country. ‘Many villages like Moclín suffer from rural depopulation, as young people leave their family communities to find work in larger towns and cities. Restoring old and abandoned village homes brings so much to the area in terms of the local economy, the continuation of traditions, and even employment. It’s been a joy seeing this lovely house being brought back to life – and with such sensitivity, too.’

Although Amanda and Alan certainly got stuck into DIY during the project, local construction companies, sub-contractors and suppliers all provided plenty of assistance. When it came to the interiors, meanwhile, inspiration was drawn from traditional Andalucian culture and Moorish design; the main bedroom suite even showcases ornate, hand-crafted plaster ceilings inspired by Granada’s Alhambra Palace.

If you fancy becoming the new owner of Amanda and Alan’s Spanish house, it’s available for offers in excess of €245,000 – with proceeds from the sale split equally and donated to Comic Relief and BBC Children in Need.
