Take a look inside the star’s serene Swiss retreat

Like the look of this utterly romantic estate in Switzerland? Well, it boasts a rather incredible story: it served as Audrey Hepburn’s home for thirty years. Here’s everything you need to know.

Audrey Hepburn’s Former Home Has Hit The Market

Hallway with black and white diamond flooring, a pale blue armchair and French doors.

Picture the home of a Hollywood star and a tranquil cottage in the Swiss countryside might not be the first thing that springs to mind – but that’s exactly what Audrey Hepburn chose as her favoured retreat from stardom. Bearing the name ‘La Paisible’ (French for ‘the peaceful’), this breathtaking property really does belong in a fairytale.

Living room with a jute rug, cream sofas and pale blue panelled walls.

Hepburn owned the house for thirty years: she purchased it in 1963 and lived there until her death in 1993. Decades later, the estate is as magnificent as ever – it boasts a jaw-dropping 21 rooms, including 12 bedrooms and eight bathrooms.

Bedroom with a cream rug, an arched window and a corner bookshelf.

Meticulous renovations ensured that the property offers an array of contemporary luxuries, from a passenger lift to a heated outdoor pool (plus two indoor garages and enough parking spaces for 15 cars).

Kitchen with navy cabinets, a dark wooden island and white marble worktops.

Yet all its period charm remains: you’ll spot terracotta floors, grand fireplaces and a magical garden which proudly showcases a line of ancient trees. The grounds extend to 40 acres, and you can enjoy spectacular views of the Swiss countryside.

Swiss villa with landscaped bushes and rose trellises.

Nestled in the picturesque village of Tolochenaz, just a stone’s throw from Lausanne, the sprawling villa offers a rare glimpse into the life of a Hollywood legend. We’re betting it’s got a rather impressive price tag to match…
