Head to the tree-lined streets of Winnetka, Chicago and you’ll spot the famous house from the Home Alone films – it’s certainly hard to miss. Since it graced our screens back in 1990, however, it’s had a bit of a facelift: it now boasts a state-of-the-art cinema room, a gym, and even an indoor sports court.

Cross the threshold and you’ll spot the legendary staircase (favoured by Kevin as a rather handy slide, of course). The cavernous kitchen is fitted with two central islands, bespoke cabinets and an elegant dining area, though you’ll also find a separate dining room and a cosy family room nearby.

Head outside to the screened-in porch and you can enjoy views of the large garden from a sprawling patio area complete with a fireplace – perfect for al fresco dinners on colder nights. Upstairs, meanwhile, there are five bedrooms including a primary suite containing a walk-in wardrobe and marble spa bath.

If you want to own a slice of movie history, this is the home for you – but it’ll cost you a hefty $5.25 million. You can check out the property at dawnmckennagroup.com
