From landmark redevelopments to properties with fascinating artistic heritage, the bar is rather high when it comes to historic homes in the capital – but this magnificent apartment block is undeniably impressive. Here’s what a £26.25m home within Rolls Royce’s former headquarters looks like.

Boasting 14-foot ceilings, Art Nouveau features and picture-perfect views across Green Park, it’s safe to say that this luxury apartment building on Old Park Lane is one of London’s most coveted addresses. Designed in 1904 by Thomas Edward Colcutt (the architect behind the Savoy and the Palace Theatre), it served as Rolls Royce’s Mayfair headquarters between 1906 and 1971, before starting life as a collection of super prime apartments – including a dazzling four-bedroom residence that’s just sold for nearly £27 million.

Offering more than 5,000 square feet of space, this particular apartment is complete with a breathtaking reception hall as well as a drawing room, dining room and living room. Alongside the four bedroom suites, you’ll also spot a huge open plan kitchen with an informal dining area, and a principal bedroom suite encompassing a dressing room and a marble bathroom.

So, who’s the proud new owner of such a high-end home? According to the investors behind the deal, the Old Park Lane apartment was purchased by a ‘young international buyer’. The sales agents noted that the average age of those purchasing super prime London properties seems to be decreasing – for properties worth £25 million or more, for instance, the average buyer is apparently just 41 years old. There’s no better time to be a young billionaire, it seems…
