Thirty acres of land, a 150-year old barn, and a private beach? Sounds about suitable for a former president. This is Blue Heron Farm, a luxurious private estate set on the shores of Tisbury Great Pond in Massachusetts – and while it was previously the summer residence of Barack Obama and his family, it has just hit the market for $39 million.

Alongside a spectacular main house spanning more than 7,000 square feet, the estate also boasts a five-bedroom guesthouse, a design studio, a riding ring and plenty of paddocks, plus a gym, tennis court, boathouse and private dock. The Obamas spent three summers there, from 2009 to 2011.

The picture-perfect property is, however, currently owned by another famous figure: Norman Foster, the renowned British architect responsible for designing a string of landmarks including The Gherkin. The Fosters have overseen plenty of recent renovations to Blue Heron Farm; they even designed the brand new swimming pool and poolhouse.

Martha’s Vineyard is certainly a hotspot for million-dollar real estate – Diane Sawyer listed her beachfront mansion for $24 million in 2023 – but it seems that this dazzling property is in a league of its own.
Blue Heron Farm is available through Maggie Gold Seelig of MGS Group Real Estate and Brian Dougherty of Corcoran Property Advisors.
