Chelsea Christmas Lights Switch-On

Ushering in the most wonderful time of the year with music, warming cocoa and, of course, glistening lights, the Chelsea Christmas Lights Switch-On is a must-visit this festive season – and every festive season for that matter. Just like previous years, the King’s Road will be part pedestrianised (from Sloane Square to Walpole Street) to make way for an afternoon of celebrations, including face painting, crafts sessions and cookie decorating, a Christmas market and live music on three stages (including the new Winter Pavilion) and roaming the streets – with mulled wine and fizz spreading the Christmassy cheer. Plenty of local businesses will be getting involved, serving up tasty treats and special offers including many on Sloane Street as the festivities stretch down the recently transformed road, from Anya Hindmarch to Gucci, Diptyque to Ferragamo. Come 5pm, it’s all eyes on Santa as he takes to the main stage at Duke of York Square and, with the assistance of a special local helper, switches on the Chelsea Christmas lights for 2024 with a flourish of 360° luminescence, music and more.

Details: All day on Saturday 16 November 2024. See all of the businesses taking part here.

Sloane Street’s New Christmas Lights

If you are a fan of London’s annual Christmas light displays, there’s a new sight to know about: Sloane Street’s new festive illuminations masterminded by renowned lighting designer James Glancy, the festive cherry on top of its £48 million transformation. Inspired by the historic mulberry trees that can be found nearby at Cadogan Place Gardens, ethereal archways of gold and copper leaves will shine in the sky from 16 November, while the trees lining the boulevard will be wrapped up in almost 34 km of glistening energy-efficient LEDs between them – that’s a whopping 312,000 individual bulbs. With a whole host of new openings and must-visits – including Dior, Louis Vuitton, Versace and plenty more – it’s the most magical place to Christmas shop this season.

Details: On display from Saturday 16 November 2024 all along Sloane Street.

Live Music In Sloane Square

At its southern end, Sloane Street opens out onto Sloane Square, where another brand new merry sight awaits. The Sloane Square Winter Pavilion is a traditional winter bandstand hosting a magical programme of Christmas performances this season – complete with cosy blanketed outdoor seating and a twinkling winter walkway creating the perfect backdrop for festive family photos. Alongside, a winter chalet, created in collaboration with the Royal Court Theatre, offers delicious seasonal winter warmers and treats. Think rich hot chocolate, mince pies, warming spiced mulled wine and candy canes aplenty.

Details: Open Wednesday to Saturday from Saturday 16 November until Saturday 21 December on Sloane Square.
