Christmas Jumper Day is back – here’s what you need to know.
When Is Christmas Jumper Day 2024?
Christmas Jumper Day will take place on 12 December 2024. Every year, millions of Brits don their Christmas wools at work, school or just around the house, with designs spanning kitsch to chic. The nationwide Christmas party (of sorts) is hosted in aid of Save The Children, with festive sweater wearers encouraged to make a small donation of £2 to the important charity. In 2023, a whopping £3 million was raised for the charity, helping children across the world facing war, hunger, poverty and more devastating issues. Since it launched in 2012, Christmas Jumper Day has raised more than £30 million for these vital causes.
The Knit Before Christmas
This year, Save the Children’s festive ambassador is none other than Shaun the Sheep, donning his shiny new title, ‘Head of Wool’. He (and the Aardman team) has teamed up with Save the Children to encourage schools and youth groups across the UK to sign up for Christmas Jumper Day 2024 – but anyone, young and old, can take part if they wish.
Together, they’ve created a short film, The Knit Before Christmas. Watch it below.

When Can I Start Wearing My Christmas Jumper?
There’s no set etiquette on when you can start wearing your Christmas jumper – simply pull it on whenever you feel like it. In our opinion, as soon as the clock strikes midnight and ushers in 1 December, festive jumpers are fair game. Of course, for some, this will be too early, but it’s better to get wear out of your festive sweater while you can.
