So what can we expect?
Doctor Who Season 2: The Trailer Is Here
What’s The Plot?
Season two of Doctor Who (or season 15 of the 2005 reboot) will follow The Doctor (Gatwa) and Belinda Chandra (Sethu) as they attempt to get Belinda back to Earth. But, of course, their journey won’t be smooth sailing. As the official synopsis reads: ‘A mysterious force is stopping their return and the time-travelling TARDIS team must face great dangers, ferocious enemies and wilder terrors than ever before.’
Belinda is keen to get home, but the Doctor reveals there’s no rush, as the TARDIS is a time machine. The trailer shows time travel to many different time periods, including 1952 and the 51st century. Along the way, they also drop into ‘the 803rd Interstellar Song Contest’, a sci-fi spin on the Eurovision Song Contest, where Rylan Clark will star as himself. ‘As a massive Whovian, getting the call to be in Doctor Who was a call I’ve always dreamed of getting,’ Clark said in a statement. ‘The episode is all my favourite things about the show with an added song contest set in space. It really is a dream come true. I can’t wait for everyone to see it. It really is going to be out of this world.’
The trailer also teases an unexplained connection between the Doctor and Belinda. Sethu previously starred as Mundy Flynn in season 14 episode Boom, and previously said there would be ‘nods’ to her former role, but confirmed Belinda is a ‘completely different thing.’
