Will There Be An Emily In Paris Season 5?

Yes, Netflix has officially confirmed Emily in Paris season 5 is on its way. The streaming giant enlisted lead star Lily Collins to announce the news on Instagram. ‘There’s no place like Rome,’ Collins says with a mischievous smile, sporting a blunt bob and sipping from an Emily in Paris emblazoned mug with a sneaky ‘5’ inscribed on the base.

‘We’re thrilled with the incredible response to this season of Emily in Paris and excited to return for a fifth to continue Emily’s adventures in Rome and Paris!’ creator Darren Star tells Netflix’s Tudum.

Emily in Paris is one of Netflix’s most successful original series: season 1 was the streamer’s most viewed comedy of 2020, while the success of season 2 led to the quick back-to-back renewal of seasons 3 and 4. Amid the Paris 2024 Olympics, Emily in Paris fever has persisted: the streamer invested in an Olympic advert in the US, while an NYC pop-up, Cafe de Lillet, has attracted thousands of fans looking to live it up like Emily. It all makes sense, then, that season 5 would be confirmed so swiftly – indeed, just four days after season 4 part 2 made it to the streaming platform.

What Will Happen?

The Emily in Paris season 4 finale sees the titular star leave her Paris apartment for the romance of Rome, with the goal of opening a Rome office for Agence Grateau. The move followed a serendipitous meeting and romantic spark with a handsome Italian fashion scion, Marcello. ‘Marcello is a whole other adventure that we want for Emily because we ultimately want Emily to be able to have a better work/life balance,’ Collins said upon the announcement. ‘We want to have Emily be able to smile without condition. We want to see her beyond her vacay mode. And he comes at that perfect time.’ With Alfie out of the picture and Gabriel realising he does want Emily after all, it seems there’s a new corner in Emily’s love triangle…

Will It Be Emily in Rome?

Don’t worry: no name change is on the cards, even if Emily will be spending more time in Rome in Emily in Paris season 5. ‘Emily’s going to have a presence in Rome,’ says Star. ‘It doesn’t mean she’s not going to be in Paris, but she’s going to have a presence in Rome.’ Lots more beautiful filming locations to come, then.

Why the move? To ‘stay ahead of the audience and take them to unexpected places,’ says Star, and prove ‘the show has the ability to have a bigger footprint’. Consider us told.

Release Date

No news just yet on a release date, but we expect it will be at least a year before Emily in Paris season 5 makes it to our screens.

What Is Emily In Paris About?

Emily in Paris follows the titular character Emily Cooper (Lily Collins), a social media marketing genius who relocates from Chicago to Paris to work for her company’s sister agency, Savoir. There, she encounters comedic trials and tribulations spanning every part of her life, from friendships to work, love life to language barriers.

As the series progresses, we increasingly delve into the lives of the people around Emily, learning more about her tough yet incredibly chic boss Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), her aspiring singer friend Mindy (Ashley Park), her attractive downstairs neighbour Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) and her chic friend Camille (Camille Razat) – all backdropped by beautiful Paris.

Will Lucien Laviscount Come Back For Emily In Paris Season 5?

Sadly, it seems unlikely Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) will return for Emily in Paris season 5 – unless it’s for a small cameo. Early on in season 4 part 2, we find out the British expat has moved on from Emily – and it hits her hard. ‘I think she really loved Alfie,’ Star tells The Hollywood Reporter. ‘Alfie had a moment where they could have stayed together and been together at the beginning of the season, and I felt Emily realized, OK, maybe her heart is with Gabriel. It was like a series of circumstances. I think Emily was happy for him and just unhappy for the fact that she ended up alone on Christmas with nobody.’
