Here’s what to expect
When it comes to art fairs, London is one of the world’s best cities to live in. We’ve got everything from huge international events like the Affordable Art Fair and Frieze, city-wide events like the London Design Festival and London Craft Week, and smaller affairs like Eye of the Collector and StART. Kicking off the 2025 season is London Art Fair, drawing more than 120 of the world’s most prestigious galleries from 18 countries to the British capital for a long weekend of arty goodness. Here’s what’s on the agenda in 2025.
London Art Fair 2025: A Guide
What’s On In 2025?
At the heart of London Art Fair is the warren of gallery displays from across the globe – but that’s not all. Talks, tours, panels, workshops and performances involving curators, artists, directors, journalists and other leading figures within the arts industry will all culminate in yet another world-class programme of events at London Art Fair 2025. The events will assess everything from nature and ecology to burgeoning art trends, curatorial themes to the role of art in other sectors.
Our top picks include:
- 2025: What’s Next In The Art Market? A panel chaired by ArtTactic’s Lindsay Dewar featuring Julia Bell (Parapluie Art Advisory), Georgina Walker (Beaumont Nathan) and Martina Batovic (Artisan Art Intelligence) discussing international auction trends for modern and contemporary art from 2012–2022, plus predictions for the year ahead.
- Art As Medicine – How have the arts and health sectors evolved to create social wellbeing? A panel featuring artist and lecturer June Mineyama-Smithson, neuroscientist Dr Tara Swart and painter, writer and educator Dr Charley Peters.
- Sonic Healing Session with Cherelle Sappleton, taking themes of connection and kinship from the 2025 Platform Exhibition ‘Today for You, Tomorrow for Me’.
- Philanthropy & The Arts: Why Should We Care? A panel exploring art’s inextricable relationship with patronage, plus what this looks and feels like in a 21st century riddled with crises.
- What The Critics Say: Is AI The New Avant-Garde? A panel of art critics, journalists and authors considering the new frontier of AI and its place in the world of art.
And, as always, the General Highlights Tour is a must for a guided overview of everything on display at London Art Fair 2025. Find the full programme of events (and secure your tickets) at londonartfair.co.uk
Museum Partner
Every year, the London Art Fair celebrates the UK’s very best regional museums with a special partnership, and this year it is Norwich’s Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts. Founded in 1973 when Sir Robert and Lady Sainsbury donated their art collection to the University of East Anglia, and housed in a Grade II* Norman Foster-designed building, the Sainsbury Centre has grown into a museum for world art, celebrating a diverse range of artistic periods, styles and materials. It’s also the world’s first museum to recognise artworks as alive, asking visitors to see the artworks in its new display Living Art not as inanimate objects but as if they’re another person – to literally meet the art.
‘We are very excited to be the Museum Partner of London Art Fair 2025,’ shares the Sainsbury Centre’s director Jago Cooper. ‘This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the Sainsbury Centre’s collection at one of the most important art platforms in the UK and we hope visitors will find new and meaningful ways to connect with art through our Living Art exhibition. The Sainsbury Centre was founded with the radical idea of removing the barriers that exist between art and people, and between artworks themselves. We continue to honour that radical intent with everything we do and we can’t wait to showcase that at London Art Fair.’
Where & When?
The London Art Fair will return to Islington’s Business Design Centre (52 Upper Street, London, N1 0QH) from 22–26 January 2025.
