London’s Prettiest Christmas Trees

Coal Drops Yard, Kings Cross
Immerse yourself in most unique and giant kaleidoscopic tree at Coal Drops Yard this Christmas. Standing at 28 feet tall, visitors are invited to take a journey into a world of light, reflection and colour via the mirrored tunnel within.

ME London
ME London offers an environmental twist on its Christmas tree in line with its tradition of pursuing sustainable alternatives. The immersive projection of a Christmas tree, which will light up the hotel’s spectacular 10-storey atrium, is sure to provide a sensational experience for spectators.

St. Pancras International Station
St Pancras’ Christmas tree this year incorporates a playful take on The Twelve Days of Christmas, swapping in animals from the London Zoo. It’s fun and family-friendly, and was built as a thank you to those who continued to support the Zoo and its animals over lockdown. It’s also yet another example of an instillation ‘tree’ – demonstrating the growing popularity of sustainable alternatives.

aqua shard
Acclaimed British set designer Soutra Gilmour is behind the show-stopping tree at aqua shard, which is made up of hundreds of golden paintbrushes. The tree is a celebration of the craftspeople behind London’s celebrated theatre industry: the makers and painters that bring productions alive.

Covent Garden
Covent Garden once again sparkles as its 55 ft tall, handpicked 40-year-old Norwegian Spruce Christmas tree is unveiled. The piazza is lit up by the tree’s 200 baubles, 30,000 lights and 180 strobe lights. But not only is the tree sure to make a spectacle, it is sustainable too – it will be recycled at the end of the season, as well as three trees having been planted in its place.

The Connaught
The Connaught has unveiled its 2021 Christmas tree, created in collaboration with long-time friends of the hotel, London-based artist duo Annie Morris and Idris Khan OBE. Morris’ precarious tower sculptures, which embody the increased uncertainty that has come to define our lives, are juxtaposed with Khan’s particular focus on strength in community through the base of the tree. Here, Khan has placed an infinity mirror engraved with 100 different translations of merry Christmas in order to reflect the coming together of faiths and cultures throughout the festive period.

The London Edition
Promising to be the ‘most fun Christmas tree you’ve ever seen’, artist Ed Curtis is in charge of The London Edition’s Christmas tree this year, in partnership with fundraising organisation CHOOSE LOVE. It’s 18 feet tall and a mashup of hand-painted artworks, resembling the Christmas tree of a childhood dream.

Claridge’s
This year, landmark London hotel Claridge’s has teamed up with designer Kim Jones, artistic director of the men’s collections at Dior, to create ‘The Celestial Snow Globe’. The sparkling tree – which boasts holographic projections combined with toile – is showcased amongst the hotel’s lobby, projecting light throughout the space and towards the grand staircase. One of the most exciting collaborations of the moment, Jones said ‘it has been a great honour’ to design the tree and that he is ‘excited to kick off the holiday season in such an iconic British institution’.

Television Centre
Designer Fiona Leahy is behind the show-stopping tree at White City’s Television Centre, her first Christmas tree instillation. Not only do the red glossy bows reflect Leahy’s statement style, but also symbolise the act of support and giving at Christmas time. Meanwhile, the scarlet bows sit amid an array of twinkly LED lights, brightening up White City and paying homage to the showbiz legacy of Television Centre.

Native Bankside
Introducing Britain’s first wool ‘tree’. Ethical floral artist Jake Kuit is bringing Christmas cheer to Borough without negatively impacting the planet. Using 44 kilos of washed British wool (which will be returned after the holiday season), cotton stems and recycled dried hydrangeas this wooly masterpiece is adorned with re-used baubles and fairy lights and can be seen at Native Bankside, just moments from Thames and Borough Market.

NoMad London
Nestled in the heart of Covent Garden, NoMad London is celebrating its first Christmas with a floating floral sculpture. The installation, which was designed by the London Flower School, features a winter wonderland aesthetic with clusters of delicate white flowers and trailing details.

Mondrian Shoreditch
East London’s latest luxury haunt, Mondrian Shoreditch, has opted for traditional grandeur this Christmas. You’ll find the hotel’s tree on the ground floor, decorated in golden-hued fairy lights and baubles to help spread a festive glow for guests. A picture-perfect tree that will make anyone feel excited for the festivities.

The Carlton Tower Jumeirah
The Carlton Tower Jumeirah has emerged from extensive renovations in full festive cheer. Alongside offers of Christmassy curated room packages and a new restaurant menu, the hotel has transformed its lobby for the holidays. Guests can find a warm welcome in the form of a beautiful tree and floral installation by McQueens Flowers, which features Norman Spruce, Juniper, Cedar and Cypress, as well as delicate glass baubles.

Bulgari Hotel London
This glamorous tree sits in The Bulgari Lounge at Bulgari Hotel London. Decorated to give an ombre effect of traditional Christmas coloured baubles merging into each other, the tree reflects its glamorous surroundings. If you look more closely you’ll see each bauble has been custom designed to include Bulgari’s most iconic elements.
