But who else is in the top five?

Last night, Beyoncé ticked a career-long goal off her bucket list: winning the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. Her fifth nomination in the category finally came good, beating out Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish, Charli XCX, Chappell Roan, Jacob Collier and Andre 3000 to take home the trophy. With four previous Album of the Year nominations, fans have lamented the star’s continuous snubs: in 2004, Dangerously in Love lost out to OutKast’s Speakerboxxx/The Love Below; in 2010, I Am… Sasha Fierce lost out to Taylor Swift’s Fearless (provoking an infamous moment with Kanye West); in 2015, self-titled Beyoncé lost out to Beck’s Morning Phase; in 2017, Lemonade was snubbed for Adele’s 25; and in 2023, Renaissance lost out to Harry Styles’ Harry’s House. So finally in 2025, the star’s legacy is cemented.

Going into the 2025 Grammy Awards, however, Beyoncé was already the most awarded artist of all time, taking the title in 2023 thanks to Renaissance. Who did she beat? And which other artists are the Grammy’s most awarded musicians of all time? Here is history’s top five.

The Most Grammy Awarded Musicians In History

Beyoncé

In 2023, Beyoncé became the most Grammy awarded musician in history, and in 2025 she added three more gongs to her total, bringing her up to a whopping 35 awards against 99 nominations. Rising to prominence in the ‘90s as part of R&B trio Destiny’s Child, Beyoncé’s solo Grammy success comes thanks to her cross-genre prowess – from R&B to rap, pop to country – as well as her indisputably powerful vocals.

Sir Georg Solti

Primarily winning Grammy awards in classical categories, Hungarian-British conductor Sir Georg Solti is an example of a musician absolutely dominating one side of music. When Beyoncé bagged her 32nd Grammy in 2023, it was Solti she nudged off the top of the podium, where he had sat with his 31 Grammys for 26 years. Living from 1912 to 1997, Solti served as the music director for the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for more than two decades, and won Grammy awards in categories such as Best Opera Recording and Best Classical Album.

Quincy Jones

Another big name in the Grammy hall of fame is Quincy Jones, a composer turned producer to the stars who collaborated with Michael Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Ray Charles and plenty more over his seven-decade career. Working behind the scenes, his 28 awards and 80 nominations cover categories like Producer of the Year, Album of the Year and Best Instrumental Arrangement.

Chick Corea

This jazz pianist is known as a pioneer of jazz fusion, blending classical and Latin music with jazz through both his improvised and composed tracks. Collaborating with Miles Davis, Gary Burton, Herbie Hancock and Bobby McFerrin, Corea’s 27 Grammys (from 71 nominations) span the likes of Best Jazz Instrumental Album and Best Jazz Performance.

Alison Strauss

The second most Grammy-awarded woman of all time isn’t Taylor Swift (who has less than half the gongs as Beyoncé, with 14 wins against 52 nominations): it’s bluegrass singer Alison Strauss. With 27 awards to her name (against 44 nominations – meaning she wins more than she loses), Krauss is a popular country artist, known for her powerful voice, fiddle playing and fusion of bluegrass, folk and country. Releasing her first album aged only 14, most of Strauss’ wins are across the country and folk categories, but in 2009 she won the top prize, Album of the Year, with Raising Sand, produced with Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant.

Notable Mentions

Disappointed not to see your favourite pop star on this list? Notable contemporary musicians include:

  • Kendrick Lamar: the hip-hop rapper has earned 17 Grammy awards from 47 nominations, including both Song of the Year and Record of the Year in 2025 for ‘Not Like Us’.
  • Adele: if it feels like this soulful British singer has dominated the Grammys in the past, that’s because she has 16 wins and 24 nominations under her belt, including two wins for Album of the Year and two wins for Record of the Year.
  • Taylor Swift: Taylor Swift has been nominated for 52 Grammy awards, but has only won 14, walking away empty handed in 2025 despite five nominations for The Tortured Poets Department. Within her 14 wins, however, Swift has won Album of the Year a record four times (for Fearless, 1989, Folklore and Midnights), making her the most awarded artist of all time in this particular category.
  • Jay-Z: as far as power couples go, Beyoncé and Jay-Z are it. Beyoncé’s husband has racked up a total of 88 nominations in his career, winning 24 times, predominantly in hip-hop categories.
  • Kanye West: Tying with Jay-Z for the most awarded hip-hop artist, Kanye might not be very active musically these days, but he is still one of the most awarded artists in history with 24 Grammys and 75 nominations to his name across the likes of Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, Best Rap Album and more.
