Christmas is well and truly here (on Netflix, anyway)
Netflix is renowned for its annual roster of cheesy Christmas movies, keeping the Hallmark fans well fed. In recent years, we’ve had everything from (genuinely good) romcom Holidate to last year’s hoot Falling for Christmas (starring Lindsay Lohan and Chord Overstreet). A Christmas Prince (2017) was so beloved it spawned two sequels, as did Vanessa Hudgens’ The Princess Switch (2018). Flash forward to today, and a whole roster of new Netflix Christmas movies are incoming for 2024. Top of the watchlist? Meet Me Next Christmas – which already has audiences talking. Here’s what you need to know.

What Is Meet Me Next Christmas About?
Meet Me Next Christmas is a festive romcom centring on Layla (Christina Milian), a motivated woman in pursuit of a fairy-tale romance with the man of her dreams – who she previously had a meet-cute with in an airport lounge. To do so, she must race through New York City to get her hands on the hottest ticket in town: the sold-out Pentatonix Christmas Eve Concert.
‘Layla is a girl that knows what she wants,’ Milian says. ‘She’s got a good head on her shoulders, and when she knows she wants something, she goes for it. She doesn’t let anything stop her. She needs to find this man, and she’s going to find him at the Pentatonix show.’
She hopes to reconnect with dashing James (Kofi Siriboe), who she met a year prior – while she still had a boyfriend. Now single after catching her partner, Tanner, cheating on her in her own house, Layla knows exactly what she wants.
The whole film is a ‘treasure hunt for love’, says Milian. As Layla dashes through the Big Apple – a classic sight for festive films – she is accompanied by unexpected ally Teddy (Devale Ellis), a professional concierge. ‘There’s a sense of magic, love, and anticipation that’s happening through the whole movie,’ Milian says. ‘You just never know who they’re going to run into or what’s going to happen next.’

Meet The Cast
Our leading lady Christina Milian is no stranger to a festive Netflix flick: in 2019 she starred in Falling Inn Love, while 2021’s Resort To Love signalled her return. In Meet Me Next Christmas, she plays Layla – and she is joined by the real acapella group, Pentatonix: Mitch Grassi, Scott Hoying, Kirstin Maldonado, Kevin Olusola and Matt Sallee.

Who Are Pentatonix?
Pentatonix is an American a cappella group renowned for its innovative vocal performances, intricate harmonies and creative arrangements. They formed in Texas in 2011 and rose to fame after winning competition series The Sing-Off – but they’re perhaps best known for their viral YouTube covers and medleys, which blend pop, R&B and electronic influences, typically created using vocal percussion and basslines.
‘We’ve always talked about how we wanted to explore other creative areas like film,’ Maldonado says. ‘It was fun to be silly, and we had a great time on set watching the magic happen.’
What makes them perfect for Meet Me Next Christmas? The huge success of their Christmas albums, of course. ‘Mary, Did You Know?’ and ‘Hallelujah’ are perhaps their most popular festive tracks, and their Christmas songs are their most-streamed tracks on Spotify, racking up hundreds of millions of listens.
