Here’s What To Expect From Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2

When Nine Perfect Strangers launched in August 2021, we were immediately hooked by Nicole Kidman’s mysterious Russian wellness guru character, Masha Dmitrichenko. She welcomes nine strangers from the city to her rural California wellness resort, Tranquillum House, and all, naturally, is not as it seems. An ensemble cast (including Melissa McCarthy, Luke Evans and Michael Shannon) kept us guessing, and when the confusing finale aired, we were satisfied that the limited series (based on Liane Moriarty’s 2019 novel of the same name) had given all it had to offer.

But then in 2023, new news: Nine Perfect Strangers had been renewed for season 2, despite Moriarty never writing a sequel to her bestselling novel. But, with Nine Perfect Strangers season 1 Hulu’s most watched original series of all time, a renewal only makes sense.

Masha is back, joined by nine new guests – but we’re in a new location. What happened in the interim, and what will unfold in season 2? Here’s everything we know so far.

What Will Happen?

Nine Perfect Strangers whisks us off to a new wellness resort in the Austrian Alps headed up by Kidman’s Russian wellness guru Masha Dmitrichenko. According to Prime Video, the action will unfold over the course of a week, with nine new strangers mysteriously ‘connected in ways they could never imagine’. During their transformative wellness retreat, Masha will take her guests to the brink, willing to try anything in the interest of healing everyone involved – including herself. But will they make it? And will she?

What Is It Based On?

Nine Perfect Strangers is based on Liane Moriarty’s 2019 novel of the same name, in which nine people gather at a remote health resort with a mysterious owner-director. It’s narrated by Frances Welty (played by McCarthy in the TV series), a best-selling romantic novelist who’s drawn in by Masha’s mystery.

But season 2 goes rogue: Moriarty never wrote a follow-up to her work, with the season 2 action developed by David E. Kelley and John-Henry Butterworth.

Release Date

Nine Perfect Strangers season 2 will launch on Hulu on Wednesday 21 May in the US, and on Prime Video in the UK on Thursday 22 May 2025.
