What Is One Day About?

One Day centres on a pair of on-and-off lovers, Dexter and Emma. In the eponymous novel on which it is based, each chapter falls on the same day each year, beginning at the pair’s university graduation and spanning a twenty year period; according to Deadline, the series will be structured in a similar way, with each episode focusing on a single day within this timeline. The story charts Dexter and Emma’s formative experiences, tracing their fragmented relationship as they find and lose each other in the course of their lives.

The novel was previously adapted into a film starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess in 2011.

Where Was One Day Filmed?

One Day was largely shot on location in Scotland in 2022. Since the protagonists meet as students at Edinburgh University, you can expect a good handful of Edinburgh haunts including Old College (a late 18th-century building now used by the Edinburgh School of Law) and parts of the city centre such as Grassmarket and The Vennel. Shooting also took place at Arthur’s Seat, one of Edinburgh’s famous hills, before finishing up in London
