Fast food? Porsche’s long-term tie-up with Soho House includes the members’ club’s annual Soho Farmhouse Food Festival in the Cotswolds. Motoring editor Jeremy Taylor and sustainable fashion expert Jessica Talbot-Ponsonby tuck into a gastronomic extravaganza, powered by the Porsche Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid.

J-TP Apparently, Soho House is a club for like-minded creative thinkers to meet, relax and have fun. Have they let you in yet?

JT – Ha! I’m obviously too busy hanging out with other ‘creative thinkers’ down at The Crown in our village.

I think the pub’s quiz team would beat all-comers in the creative thinking section, especially by closing time. I digress, I enjoyed the Soho Farmhouse Food Festival.

Yes, obviously the fine weather helped, but an opportunity to indulge in fine food and drink with some of the country’s best chefs is not to be sniffed at.

I love the Japanese offerings from Dinings SW3 and Jeremy Chan’s dishes from Ikoyi but it was really a day to sit in the sunshine with friends and enjoy the spectacle. What’s the deal with Porsche and Soho House anyway – they had cars everywhere?

Porsche’s partnership covers all Soho House properties in the UK and Europe. The Oxfordshire event was just one of many they have been involved in. Which is why we turned up in a Cayenne.

And not just any version – the Turbo E-Hybrid with GT Pack is the most powerful Cayenne ever, offering a supercar-like 729bhp!

I have to say, it doesn’t look like a £154,000 SUV but the performance figures are staggering. The V8 petrol engine and electric motor will carry it from standstill to 62mph in just 3.6 seconds, and on to a rather pointless 190mph.

Fast food indeed. What is the GT package all about?

Well, it adds a not insubstantial £34,000 to the standard E-Hybrid price, with tweaks to the suspension and the option of rear-wheel steering, which was fitted to our car.

The interior was swathed in Alcantara and carbon for that extra-sporty look, while there’s a sense of real quality about the trim and materials.

And the power comes relentlessly. I didn’t quite appreciate how quick the Turbo E-Hybrid is, and it’s also capable of running electric only for up to 45 miles. That’s impressive.

Yes, this is a family supercar with a huge breadth of abilities. The only let down is that huge price – but Soho House is probably a very good place to find a few potential buyers.
