With four medals already under her belt at Paris 2024 alone, it’s no overstatement that Simone Biles is a sight to behold. Measuring in at 4’8”, this pocket rocket artistic gymnast is known for her never-seen-before levels of power, earning her a ‘greatest of all time’ moniker. Indeed, with a burgeoning collection of nine Olympic medals and 30 World Championship medals, Biles is the most decorated gymnast in history. But with great talent comes great pressure – and this is the subject of her new Netflix docuseries, Simone Biles Rising.

Flashing back to Tokyo 2020 (the Covid-riddled Olympic Games that actually took place in 2021), Biles famously pulled herself out of the running with a severe case of the twisties (aka ‘the yips’) – a temporary loss of air awareness suffered by gymnasts, creating a feeling of disorientation and increasing the risk of severe injury – which Biles attributed to mental ill health. Simone Biles Rising delves into this terrifying time for Biles, and chronicles her journey back to the world stage, with Paris 2024 on the horizon.

Directed by Katie Walsh, fans have lauded the series’ two episodes for their sensitive look at mental health, showcasing the very real, very human side of history’s greatest gymnast. And now Biles is, of course, back on top, bagging gold medals in the all round team event with Team USA as well as all round individual – with individual vault, balance beam and floor medals up for grabs. Will There Be More Episodes Of Simone Biles Rising?

Yes, two more episodes of Simone Biles Rising are scheduled to be released by Netflix on 25 October 2024, showcasing Biles and Team USA’s performance at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The first two episodes of the series showcase the lead up, with reflections on Tokyo 2020. We will see the team arrive in Paris, before bagging Olympic gold in the all round team event on 30 July.

Will There Be A Simone Biles Rising Season 2?

No news just yet on whether we can expect Simone Biles Rising season 2. If Netflix does give the series a greenlight, it’ll be something a little different to season 1, which specifically follows Biles’ return to the top of her game at Paris 2024.

Maybe we will look at her route to the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships which take place every other year. The next edition will take place in Jakarta, Indonesia in 2025. In the 2023 edition in Antwerp, Belgium, Biles took gold medals in the team, individual all-round, balance beam and floor events, with a silver medal in vault, reaching the podium in every event except uneven bars.
