The Gentlemen Season 2: Plot, Cast, Release Date
Will There Be The Gentlemen Season 2?
Yes, Netflix has officially confirmed that season 2 of The Gentlemen is on its way, with Theo James, Kaya Scodelario and Daniel Ings all set to return to their roles of Eddie Horniman, Susie Glass and Freddy Horniman respectively. The news follows the huge success of season 1, which takes a peek at the criminal underbelly of aristocratic Britain, inspired by Guy Ritchie’s 2019 film, also called The Gentlemen.
‘With its gun-toting chickens and drug-dealing Dukes, The Gentlemen was a huge hit with audiences in 2024,’ the UK content VP for Netflix told Variety. ‘Not really a surprise as Guy Ritchie remains one of the industry’s most iconic creators telling authentically British stories with his signature swagger, grit and wit. ‘We are thrilled the series will be returning to Netflix for a second season, and cannot wait to see what happens when the worlds of old money and drug money collide once more.’
Guy Ritchie will return as director, teaming up with Matthew Read to write season 2.
What Is The Gentlemen About?
The Gentlemen is a gangster drama – and occasional comedy – centring on Eddie Horniman (Theo James), an ex army captain (who we first meet working as a UN peacekeeper) who unexpectedly inherits the family estate Halstead Manor following the death of his elderly father, Archibald Horniman (Edward Fox) – instead of his elder, admittedly incredibly unreliable and cocaine-addicted brother, Freddy (Daniel Ings).
Hitting the ground running, it’s mere moments before Eddie uncovers his father’s gravest secret: he sold a huge swathe of his ancestral land to gangsters who have used it to cultivate a huge cannabis farm. The gangsters in question are father daughter duo Bobby and Susie Glass (Ray Winstone and Kaya Scodelario). With the former in prison, Susie becomes Eddie’s de facto frenemy as the sharp-minded younger son is suddenly plunged right into the belly of the beast: the criminal underworld.
What Will Happen In Season 2?
Plot details are still up in the air at present, but we’re sure The Gentlemen season 2 will pick up where season 1 left off: with Eddie drawn deeper into the criminal underworld he spent so long resisting, now in an equal partnership with Susie and Bobby Glass. Meanwhile, season 1 closed with Bobby and Stanley dining together in prison, hinting at a brewing alliance – so we’re sure we will see the repercussions of this in season 2.
‘It’d be fun to see the business spread a bit more,’ Scodelario told Netflix’s Tudum when season 1 launched. ‘How do they take it to the next level? They’re very adamant about not getting into the chop game, so how do they then continue to build the empire? Where does that take them? How does the new structure of the business work practically?’
On Eddie and Susie’s developing working relationship, James added, ‘I think they’ve grown to love each other in their own way, but I think they’ll never fully trust each other because they are so different and they’re from such vastly different worlds. There’s a love between them, but ultimately they will never be from the same cloth.’ Let’s see how well they navigate being equal partners, then…
Who Will Star?
A slew of new characters is set to star in The Gentlemen season 2 – but no news just yet on who they are or the roles they will play. In the meantime, we expect our core coterie of characters to return:

- Kaya Scodelario as Susie Glass, the de facto head of Bobby Glass’ criminal empire while he is in prison
- Daniel Ings as Freddy Horniman, Eddie’s elder, unreliable brother
- Joely Richardson as Sabrina Horniman, Duchess of Halstead and Eddie and Freddy’s mother
- Vinnie Jones as Geoffrey Seacombe, Halstead Manor’s long serving gamekeeper
- Ray Winstone as Bobby Glass, Susie’s father and the imprisoned head of a cannabis empire
- Giancarlo Esposito as Stanley Johnston, an American billionaire looking to buy Halstead Manor
