First Look At Jenna Coleman In Upcoming BBC Thriller The Jetty

The Jetty: Everything We Know So Far

New images for upcoming BBC thriller, The Jetty, have just dropped, featuring series lead Jenna Coleman in character as Detective Ember Manning. The show, which comes from writer Cat Jones and producers Firebird Pictures, is expected to hit screens sometime this year.

Coinciding with the teaser, Coleman said how: ‘Working with BBC and Firebird Pictures on bringing the complex and enigmatic character of Ember Manning to life has been an incredible experience. I can’t wait for everyone to meet this new heroine and to find out what’s lurking beneath the surface of The Jetty.’

What Is The Jetty About?

Part coming-of-age drama, part detective thriller, across four episodes, The Jetty explores big questions about sexual morality, identity and memory. It centres on rookie detective Ember Manning (Coleman), who is tasked with solving a case involving a burnt down holiday home in a Lancashire lake town. But the case is connected to two more mysteries: a missing persons cold case being investigated by a podcast journalist, and an illicit ‘love’ triangle between a man in his twenties and two underage girls. As Ember creeps ever closer to the truth, it threatens to destroy her life and she must evaluate everything she thought she knew about herself and the town she has always called home.

Where Was It Filmed?

The Jetty was filmed in West Yorkshire between September and November 2023. Key locations include Calderdale, Ripponden, Sowerby Bridge and Todmorden.

Release Date

No specific date just yet, but filming has wrapped and we’re told The Jetty will ‘launch soon on BBC iPlayer and BBC One’.
