Last Easter, the news emerged that the BBC had booked up Ardross Castle, filming location for The Traitors, for a whopping six years, all the way up to 2030. In short, this beloved murder mystery series is going nowhere soon. Already craving season 4? Here’s what we know so far.

Will There Be The Traitors Season 4?
Yes, The Traitors season 4 was confirmed in August 2024 at the Edinburgh TV Festival, along with a nine-part celebrity version. Both are expected to be filmed at Ardross Castle this summer.
‘The Traitors has well and truly established itself as an unmissable highlight of the year and the news of a fourth outing, alongside a brand new celebrity version coming to the BBC, will take the series to a whole new level,’ the BBC’s head of entertainment Kalpna Patel-Knight said at the time. ‘It will once again be fascinating for our audiences to see who’ll outwit, outplay, and outlast. Let the mind games begin!’
‘We are thrilled to be inviting some celebrities into our castle to come and play the game,’ added Mike Cotton, executive producer of the series. ‘Seeing famous faces navigate the round table or don the infamous green cloaks will be unmissable TV, and what a double treat for the fans with Series 4 also confirmed too. There’s a whole lot of exciting treachery and deception yet to come from the Highlands… Claudia’s going to have to pack some extra knitwear.’

Who Will Star?
The Traitors season 4 cast has not yet been selected. In fact, if you’re dreaming of starring in the UK’s favourite live action murder mystery game, you’ve got until 9 February to send your application. Find all the details at bbc.co.uk
As for the celebrity version, casting commenced way back in August 2024, so we’re sure the line-up is coming close to being finalised. Those in the know have been keeping schtum, but rumoured contestants include Friends star Courtney Cox, Rylan Clark, Kathy Burke, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, Alison Hammond, Jason Manford, Victoria Coren Mitchell, Liz Truss and EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt.
With a star-studded host of faithful fans, it seems the sky is the limit when it comes to who might star in Celebrity The Traitors. Across the Atlantic (where celebs have always been included in The Traitors), contestants span reality stars, Olympians, actors and more, including Kate Chastain, Chrishell Stause, Ekin-Su and even John Bercow.

When Will The Traitors Season 4 Air?
If previous years are anything to go by, The Traitors will return for season 4 at the end of 2025 or the start of 2026. If we look at the last two series in particular, it seems the BBC likes to start The Traitors on a Wednesday, kicking off its three episode per week schedule; in 2025, this was 1 January, and in 2024, it was 3 January. (Series 1 aired on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings beginning on 29 November 2022). Next year, this would mean beginning The Traitors season 4 on Wednesday 31 December 2025 or Wednesday 7 January 2026 – unless we shift back to November to make space in the schedule for Celebrity The Traitors.
Speaking of the celeb version, no news just yet on when we will see it – and it’s not clear which version of the series will be filmed first. We think the most likely result is a spring 2026 debut to give The Traitors series 4 some breathing room, but only time will tell.

When Will They Film The Traitors Season 4?
The Traitors season 4 will be filmed in summer 2025, along with a celebrity version and presumably another US season, which is also filmed in Ardross Castle and uses many of the same challenges as the UK version. It’s not yet clear exactly when they will all be filmed: series 1 was filmed in May 2022, series 2 in September 2023, and series 3 in May 2024.
