The much-anticipated third season of The White Lotus is just on the horizon, premiering on Sunday night in the US and in the wee hours of Monday morning here in the UK. Luckily for fans, we’re nowhere near the end of the road…

When The White Lotus was renewed for season 3, it felt inevitable. Mike White’s landmark HBO dramedy has fans across the globe and, it seems, across each section of society. As season 3 looms on the horizon – set to transport us to Thailand for a spirituality-focussed season at the end of the week – our minds are floating further afield. Here’s everything we know so far about The White Lotus season 4.

Is There Going To Be The White Lotus Season 4?

Yes, The White Lotus has already been renewed for season 4, meaning a whole new ensemble of troubled yet exuberantly wealthy tourists will land in a glitzy, far-flung destination sometime in the future (probably in 2027, if we’re being realistic).

The news came way ahead of the dramedy’s season 3 premiere (16 February), with Variety revealing the season 4 renewal on 22 January. However, according to HBO chairman and CEO Casey Bloys, season 4 was germinating even earlier: when Bloys visited the season 3 set in Thailand in December 2023, series creator Mike White pitched his season 4 concept. The executive reportedly responded that if White wants to do a fourth season, HBO will do a fourth season.

Where Will The White Lotus Season 4 Be Set?

Season 1 was set in Hawaii, season 2 took us to Sicily, season 3 is about to whisk us off to Thailand – but where will we land in The White Lotus season 4? And does another new season spell another new continent? Not necessarily, according to HBO programming executive Francesca Orsi. ‘We’re going on some location scouting in the next couple of weeks, so we’ll know soon,’ Orsi recently told Deadline. ‘I can’t really say where we’re going to land, but chances are somewhere in Europe.’

While fans ponder the possibility of Africa or South America, Orsi says a return to Europe is ‘likely’, adding that there are ‘some countries on the map that we talked about, but nothing to report on until they actually go location scouting’.

So far, each series of The White Lotus has been filmed in a luxurious hotel under the Four Seasons chain, rebranded into a White Lotus hotel for the series. While a whopping 53 of the brand’s 133 hotels and resorts are located in North America, there are 19 further properties scattered across Europe, stretching from London to Lisbon, Geneva to Istanbul.

The most famous of them all is probably Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat, a prestigious address on the French Riviera, hidden among six hectares of gardens overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Beady-eyed TV fans might just recognise this spot from a cameo in Emily in Paris, but will HBO manage to buy out Cap-Ferrat’s star-studded guestlist for circa-six month shoot? Only time will tell…
