This thriller is coming to Netflix before the end of the year

Beloved British star Keira Knightley has taken a bit of a step back from the limelight in recent years – but exploded back onto our screens in December with festive spy thriller Black Doves. That has been renewed for a second season, but before we see it, Knightley has another Netflix project in the works. Here’s everything we know so far about The Woman in Cabin 10, a rocky cruise thriller coming later this year.

Despite no one believing her, Lo hunts for answers, ultimately putting herself in danger, too.

Is It Based On A Book?

Yes, The Woman in Cabin 10 is based on British author Ruth Ware’s bestselling 2016 novel of the same name. Read the novel’s synopsis below:

Lo Blacklock, a journalist who writes for a travel magazine, has just been given the assignment of a lifetime: a week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. The sky is clear, the waters calm, and the veneered, select guests jovial as the exclusive cruise ship, the Aurora, begins her voyage in the picturesque North Sea. At first, Lo’s stay is nothing but pleasant: the cabins are plush, the dinner parties are sparkling, and the guests are elegant. But as the week wears on, frigid winds whip the deck, gray skies fall, and Lo witnesses what she can only describe as a dark and terrifying nightmare: a woman being thrown overboard. The problem? All passengers remain accounted for and so, the ship sails on as if nothing has happened, despite Lo’s desperate attempts to convey that something (or someone) has gone terribly, terribly wrong.

Will There Be A Sequel?

Ware is set to publish a highly anticipated sequel to The Woman in Cabin 10 this summer. The Woman in Suite 11 will reunite us with Lo Blacklock, who is on her first assignment after leaving the industry 10 years ago: attending the opening of a luxury Swiss hotel owned by reclusive billionaire Marcus Leidmann. Three years since the birth of her youngest child, Lo is ready to reestablish her journalism career. But the landscape has changed since the pandemic.

Hoping to snag an interview with Marcus, Lo soon realises he’s even trickier to pin down than the rumours had led her to believe. So when she receives a late night call inviting her to Marcus’ hotel room, she jumps at the chance. When the door opens, however, she’s greeted by a woman claiming to be the billionaire’s mistress – and she’s in a life or death situation.

The Woman in Suite 11 will be published on 8 July 2025. Preorder at bookshop.org

Where Was The Woman In Cabin 10 Filmed?

The Woman in Cabin 10 was filmed on a real superyacht called Savannah, built in the Netherlands in 2015. Savannah stands in for Aurora – the boat Ware writes about in her novel. Additional filming took place in Dorset, specifically on the Isle of Portland.

Release Date

The Woman in Cabin 10 is slated to land on Netflix in autumn 2025. Stay tuned for further details.
