We come bearing bad news...

The much-anticipated third season dropped on Netflix on 11 July – so when can we expect to see Vikings: Valhalla season 4? Sorry fans, it’s not good news…

Will There Be Vikings: Valhalla Season 4?

No, there sadly will not be a fourth season of Vikings: Valhalla. Series creator Jeb Stuart confirmed in October 2023 that the third installment would be Valhalla’s last, telling IGN: ‘I am so grateful to have had three seasons to tell the stories of Leif, Harald and Freydís. I knew from the beginning that I wanted to show the evolution of how three of the most famous Vikings became the icons we know today, and we have done just that.

‘I hope that the audience [will] be excited by the new heights that we’ve taken these heroes,’ he continued. ‘When we started this project five years ago, I worked hard with this incredible cast and crew to craft a journey that we all hoped would be satisfying.’

What Is Vikings: Valhalla About?

Vikings: Valhalla is a sequel to the uber popular historical warrior series, Vikings. Beginning in England 100 years after Vikings ended, the series depicts the gory St Brice’s Day massacre in 1002 as tensions between descendents of the Vikings (aka the Norse or Danes) and native English reached a fever pitch. To make matters worse, the Norse clash amongst themselves due to conflicting Christian and pagan beliefs. Thus begins the Viking Age’s downfall, and we follow Leif (Sam Corlett), Freydís (Frida Gustavsson) and Harald (Leo Suter), Norse people who migrate in all directions in the wake of the massacre.

Where Was It Filmed?

Vikings: Valhalla was mainly filmed in County Wicklow, Ireland, including at Lough Tay in the Wicklow Mountains. The Viking village of Kattegat, however, was built on a set at Ashford Studios.
