A New, Free Sculpture Park Is Coming To London This Spring

Winter Sculpture Park is set to be London’s largest space of its kind – and it will be totally free to visit

If there’s one thing London has in spades, it’s free art – whether that’s globally renowned art in world class museums, street art or open air sculptures. As for the latter, traditional commemorative statues and more avant-garde modern works alike are scattered across the city, but it’s not all that common to see a collection of works all in one place like the more spacious sculpture parks that can be found across the UK. If that’s exactly what you’ve been craving, you’re in luck: London’s largest free open-air gallery is making a return this spring (despite its unseasonal name). Here’s exactly what you need to know about Winter Sculpture Park, plus when you’ll be able to visit.
Winter Sculpture Park Is Returning To London This Spring
Returning to London for its fourth edition, Winter Sculpture Park invites Londoners and locals from the surrounding areas to discover contemporary art en plein air. Visitors of all ages can roam, ramble and get lots in the exhibition’s 6.5-acres of grassland along the River Thames – which is coincidentally a rewilded former golf course, closed to the public for more than a decade.
What’s On Display?
More than 40 artworks by 32 artists will be on display at Winter Sculpture Park, all curated by the duo behind London gallery No. 32. The sculptures will span a range of mediums, with work from the likes of Claye Bowler, Ellie Harrison, Joseph Ijoyemi, Chloë Louise Lawrence, Chanel Vegas, Alegria Repila Smith and Marcus Orlandi confronting topics from queerness to climate change, class to health inequalities, violence against women to invasive tabloids.
